It is with great sadness that the family of Erma Ileen Gardner announce her sudden passing at her home in Chase, B.C. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the age of 83 years.
Erma was born on September 7, 1935 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan to Frank and Della Grundy.
Erma was a devoted, fun-loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a friendly, happy person and saw the good in all people.  She opened her heart and willingly gave her time to other people.
She went through life with dignity and grace.
She was an avid craftsperson and spent many hours completing ceramics, knitting and painting projects.   She was an avid curler and spent her winters curling at the local rink and bonspieling out of town with her teammates.  As well, she eagerly helped out at the concession at the rink.
Erma was a great cook and treated her family and friends to many good meals, fresh bread and buns and delicious desserts.   She spent countless hours canning and preserving produce from her garden in the summer months to ensure her family was well fed year round.
She loved playing cards and games and was a very competitive player and always a gracious winner.
Erma is predeceased by her parents.  She leaves behind her husband of 62 years Wilfred Lorne Gardner, her three children Lorna Hanishewski and Larry (Darlene) Gardner, and Ron (Jennifer) Gardner and her brother Ken (Sharon) Grundy as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
By request, Erma asked to be cremated and have her ashes buried at the cemetery in Chase, BC.  Internment will be a private family affair.   She requested that there be no formal service, but rather a tea with family and friends, to celebrate her life on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Chase, BC.
