Oliphant, Stephen Robert “Ollie/Steve”

October 10, 1948 – December 8, 2012
at the age of 64 years

Born in Toronto, ON on October 10, 1948 Steve died at Trinity Valley on December 8, 2012 at the age of 64 years.

He will be sadly grieved by his family and friends.  Steve is survived by his wife Karen, children A.J., Melissa, Dustin and Steven, grandson Garrett and loving sister Jayne.

Steve loved his horse, dogs and any other critter that would wonder in, or someone would give to him to bring home.  They were always welcome, Steve believed it was the way to be a cowboy – tried, tested and true.  So did many of his best friends like Ronnie and Donna Tinsley, Dowie and Janice Schasama as well as Denise and (the late Rene) Nolette.

Steve worked for Sampson Farms in Ontario for 30 years as a stud and foal manager.  He moved to Salmon Arm and became a special constable for large animals at the Salmon Arm SPCA.

In 1998, the year of the big fire, he worked day and night bringing home animals daily filling our farm as well as all the neighbours.

Steve trained 12 reindeer for the movie “A Christmas Secret” or” Flight of a Reindeer” starring Richard Thomas and Beau Bridges in which he also played a role.

The family would like to thank Mt. Ida Medical Clinic, Dr. Skubiak,EMSfrom Enderby and Lumby, RCMP from Armstrong and a special thanks to Brian Jensen.

Our home was always open and will always be open for those who care to visit.

Interment of cremated remains to be in Sea Bright,Ontarioin the spring of 2013.

~ Steve will be playing forever in a field with his horse and a dog or two…~

  1. I truly don’t think anyone has a true friend…we were truly blessed to have Ollie I don’t know how it works but I do know our venture will continue in the next life no doubt in my mind xo

  2. I am so heart broken to learn of this news. I knew “Mr. Oliphant” from the time I was a 5yr old little girl that moved in next door to his farm and became instant best friends with his son Steven (7yrs). My fondest memories are growing up on that farm. He was and always will live on in my mind as the True Marlborough Man.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Oliphant family and sending special love and hugs to Steven…. he worshipped his Father. xoxo

  3. Our deepest condolences to the Oliphant family.
