Blain, Wilfred

November 10, 1941 – March 5, 2019
at the age of 77 years

A celebration of life will be held from 2 – 4 pm at the 5th Avenue Seniors’ Centre, 170 – 5 Avenue SE, Salmon Arm, BC on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

We regret to announce the sudden passing of Wilfred Blain on March 5, 2019.
Born in Ashcroft, BC on November 10, 1941 he moved to Salmon Arm in 1960 working for various companies in the area, Northern BC and overseas.
Known for his “gift of Gab”, always ready for a cold beer anytime with his buddies living by the motto “it’s 12:00 0’clock somewhere”.  There was nothing he enjoyed more than time with family and friends, especially the grand kids.  His hobbies included hunting and fishing, gardening, canning anything that fit in a jar and early morning coffee with buddies.
A local auctioneer, his ultimate favorite times were the yearly variety club auctions that were enjoyed by many.
Wilf is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years Lydia, son Arnie (Annette), grandchildren Dallas (Kate) and Trista (Matt), daughter Debbie (Shane), grandchildren Michael (Marissa) and Amanda, brother Earl (Jeannie), sisters Bernice, Vi (Jim), Shirley (Walter), Barb (Don), Lois (Randy) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Vince and Tammy Fischer, paramedics, RCMP, Dr. Laurens and Dr. Azad.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or Variety, The Children’s Charity.

  3. My condolences to Lydia and family. Wilf was always a good friend. I met Wilf back in the late 60s, while working for Larry Toebosch. There was one memorable trip gravelling roads near Seymour Arm, where we stayed at 2 Mile Camp. I will always remember Wilf.

  4. So sorry to hear this, Lydia… Wilf was a great person & partner – you lucked out there! Take care of yourself and live life to the fullest… as Wilf would have wanted you to..

  5. Sorry for your loss! Remember Wilf fondly from the days at Brown’s Trailer Park. RIP.

  6. My grandpa was always someone very special to me. I am very grateful for the time I had with him, although it’s never enough. I will hold him close to my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you to everyone who has sent their love to my family at this extremely difficult time.

  7. I will miss you so much my big brother. You and Lydia always there for me thru thick and thin
I know we always had normal sibling discussions but now those are funny memories. A huge hole will be left in my life but am so happy that you had the most beautiful family you really hit pay dirt in that department. Your family will always be part of our life. We will have a drink for you cause it’s always five o’clock some where.. love forever❤❤

  8. Sincere Condolences Lydia and family. Even though we are neighbours of your grandson and you only live a block away, all we ever get to do is wave as we pass each other in our vehicles or talk at the mailboxes. I cannot say I knew Wilf, yes, I knew who he was, but I did know of his auctionering abilities of course, being told by Dad years ago. Thank goodness for family to help you thru this difficult time….you have lots of memories over that 56 years! Cherish them!

  9. Dear Lydia and family I would like to express my deepest sympathy and my thoughts are with all of you. I have lost a good friend and coffee buddy and already miss our arguments of who is going to pay for the coffee today. I will always remember our many drives up the mountain. Wilf called it toodiling!! Rest in peace Wilf ! Sincerely Gordon Venables

  10. Our deepest sympathies Lydia and family.
Huge hugs. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
    Much love
