Brett, William “Bill” Norman

May 16, 1939 – November 2, 2024
at the age of 85 years:

Bill was predeceased by his parents Norman and Ruth Brett and brother Gordon Brett. He is survived by his wife Dianna, sons Allan (Melissa), John (Robyn) and brother John (Helga), as well as grandchildren, sister-in-law Karen, cousins, nieces and nephew.

Bill grew up on the west side of Vancouver, close to the ocean which he enjoyed immensely. Bill and Dianna were married in 1965. They welcomed 2 sons, Allan Tyler Brett, 1967 and John Christopher Brett in 1970. Bill obtained a degree as a Certified General Accountant in 1972, worked in the accounting industry, eventually starting his own business, retiring at age 62. Bill was happy to welcome his grandchildren. John became step-dad to Andrew (born 1989), Allan and Melissa married in 2007 and had Takara in 2009 and Khyden in 2011. John and Robyn married in 2004 and had Adam in 2006 and Nolan in 2010. Bill and Dianna moved to the Sunshine Coast where they lived near the ocean for 11 years. Bill loved fishing and being near the water. He looked forward every year to the family fishing trip. Gardening was a task he loved to do spending many hours weeding, digging, planting and watching it all grow. Bill was fortunate to have many special friends who he spent time with travelling, golfing and playing poker. Bill was a great guy who never said “no” whenever someone asked for his help. Bill and Dianna moved to Salmon Arm in 2016 where at age 85 he passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by his family.

Bill loved his family unconditionally. He was loved. He will be missed. The family is considering a “Celebration of Life” in the Spring of 2025.

Many thanks to the Community Services Palliative care nurses: Laura, Danielle and Daniela, who were so very caring, helpful and supportive.
