May 13, 1921 – May 10, 2023
at the age of 101 years:
With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Ivy May Dale (nee Hall) at Shuswap Lake Hospital in Salmon Arm, BC on May 10, three days shy of her 102nd birthday. Born May 13, 1921, at Pipestone, MB, she was the 4th child of fourteen. She was predeceased by her first husband Jessey Jones and her second husband Thomas Dale. She is survived by siblings Eva Nixon, Estevan SK, William Hall (Helen) Brandon MB, Lyle Hall (Margaret) Virden MB, sisters-in-law Irene Hall Lacombe AB, and Enid Hall Virden MB.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Norman Jones (Betty) Elkhorn MB, Delores Weddick Enderby BC, Joyce Jones Medicine Hat AB, and Linda Cowan, Moosomin SK. This matriarch leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, too numerous to list.
This beautiful hardworking lady overcame many obstacles in her life with dignity and courage. She had a passion for quilting and over her lifetime made hundreds of quilts for friends and family.
Fiercely independent, Ivy lived on her own in Vernon, BC up until January of this year, when she moved in with her daughter in Enderby.
She touched everyone who knew her with her easygoing practical ways, her selflessness, dry wit and back slapping hugs!
No funeral by request, instead she asks that each family remembers her by having a picnic.
I have been telling people how metal my adopted grandma was. Living her life, her way, practically up until the end after over 100 years! Mad respect, grandma, mad respect. I am still struggling. Honestly, I thought she was going to be at *my* memorial. I only knew her for 20 of her years and I am especially glad for the last few. The best part of family functions was spending time with her. An amazing woman I was fortunate to have in my life. I am crying, and smiling, as I write this.
With warmth, love, and gratitude.
