Celebration of Life:  Saturday, June 25, 2016, 1 – 3 p.m., 2720 17th St. NE, Salmon Arm

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Dave de Jersey. David was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, to Maurice and Beryl, younger brother to Alan Margaret and Sylvia and older brother to Yvonne and Faye. The family moved gradually west, winding up in Salmon, BC, for Dave’s graduation. He moved to the lower mainland in his early twenties and married Gwen Hildebrand. Their children together are Jason David, Chantelle Marie and Christine Danielle of Cranbrook, BC. The children of his second marriage to Dawn Curtis are Danica Maureen and Shane William rivers of Tappen. The five children were Dave’s greatest pleasure and pride and he loved their connection to one another.
Dave was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2011. The cancer returned in December 2014. After nearly a year long fight, Dave passed away at Shuswap Lake General Hospital on November 24, 2015. He is survived by his wife Dawn; his children Jason, Chantelle, Christine, Danica and Shane; his siblings; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. A memorial/celebration of life will be held for Dave in the spring.

  1. Dawn, we were so sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. We fondly remember our time spent hanging out and playing card games, while the kids played. We missed you guys when you moved from Cranbrook, but kept track of Danica and Shane’s accomplishments via social media, posted proudly by Dave. I wish that we could attend the memorial, but remember that we will be thinking of you all!

  2. Dear Dawn & Family,
It is with the deepest & heart felt sympathy to all your family. Hearing of Dave passing was more then shock. Dave was my best friend during our younger years when the De Jersey family first moved to Salmo. We were always together during the high school years. It was a sad day when Dave moved away to Vancouver and start his life on the coast. Dave was my best man at my wedding. I was his when he married Gwen. I have a lot of good memories of the crazy times when we were together. It was unfortunate our later lives became busy and we were unable to visit very often. I am so so sorry to hear this news. Please let me know when you have the Memorial for Dave.
