I’d been trying to reach him since Saturday the 16th of November. I learned today that he’d passed and I am crushed. My heart breaks for everyone who was fortunate to enjoy the best of him and goodness knows there was a lot to go around.
As a kid he was my hero and to this day that hasn’t changed. He told me often he had always wished he could have had more time and more opportunity to be more of a parent to me but I can say without hesitation that he gave me the most precious gifts a broken little ginger kid could ever get and that was love, protection, consistency, patience, guidance and above all acceptance. In a short amount of time he managed to repair so much hurt and he never knew until much later.
That dry, clever wit and readiness to laugh at himself. The love of irony, satire and a highly refined taste in comics and animation. The appreciation he had for popcorn and salt and his airfryer. The amusement he shared when he discovered that he really, really like fruit at the age of 77. The way he showed appreciation for those who cared for him. Quiet strength and a love of laughter. You saved me from further harm the winter I turned 8. Lois was saved too.
He laughed and cracked jokes when I told him I figured he was 100 feet tall and bullet-proof when I was a kid : “Nah…six-two and shot to shit” he joked.
He gave me the greatest gift I could have expected at the age of 54 with one little “I love you kiddo”. I’ll take that to the bank all day.
Thank you to his Sister Joan who meant the world to him for sharing his passing, he talked about you all the time and you truly were his best friend. I loved listening to him talk and about you and hear the love in his voice. You were one of his joys in life.
He was remarkable. My husband Dave and I adored having him in our lives and only regret it couldn’t have been for longer. Rob always ended our calls with a simple reminder.
“Just…always be kind to each other.” He and I knew what it meant and why.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends . Robert was a special man , intelligent and kind. Through all his health challenges he remained positive and upbeat and didn’t loose his sense of humor. He was such a pleasure to work with. He will be missed.
