at the age of 85 years

Fred Max Eckert passed away at Bastian Place at nearly 86 years of age on June 27. He is survived by his wife, Emmy and children, Stefan and Martina. Fred emigrated from Germany in 1953. He worked on a farm and in the building trades before joining the Post Office where he was employed for 30 years. He designed and built our house in the Shuswap Lakes Estate where he and his wife lived since retiring in 1990. He was a passionate gardener and spent most of his daylight hours outside. He has two sisters in Germany. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
