May 3, 1942 – October 20, 2013
at the age of 71 years
Karl was born May 3, 1942. Grandma Maria delivered baby Karl on the homestead property of his parents, Nettie (nee Wall) and George Ens in Carrot River, Saskatchewan. When he was about 3 years old, the family went on a train across Canada to the coast. They all settled in Winfield (his older sister Maria and his younger sister Eva).
Karl’s adult life included many varied occupations: gardener, farmer, hunter, bee keeper, trapper, cabinet maker, fisher, chinchilla farmer, tree planter, ranch hand and the list goes on!! Over the years, he also became a father to Louella, David, Karlyn, Steven, Jordan and Arthur. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren; Jeffery, Amber, Emmanuel, Nathan and Lacy-Ann and great granddaughter Julia. Karl and his loving wife Barb, shared the best 12 years of their lives together. The last few years of his life, he also became very close to Michael Remington (Barb’s son); their morning phone calls made his day!
Karl’s ever giving hospitality never ended and he loved his pig roasts in the fall.
But there was something missing in his life that he just couldn’t find in all his adventures and that was Peace of Mind and Heart. He wanted to know what the future would bring for him and his family. His love of reading was instrumental in his learning the truth of the Bible and it’s hope of Jehovah’s promise to make this whole world a paradise with no death and sorrow. He found brotherhood and then there was no stopping his desire to learn more about that brotherhood that spanned the world.
He made a dedication to Jehovah and was baptized July 2012. He now had brothers and sisters in the faith that he loved dearly. Karl’s faith was in the resurrection.
We love you and miss you – we look forward to seeing you again, in the paradise.
Special thanks to all the brothers & sisters in the Falkland congregation as well as others.
Karl is survived by his wife Barb, mother Nettie, two sisters Maria and Eva as well as his six children, five grandchildren, great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
