at the age of 70 years

A Memorial Mass for the late John Hoare will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st, at Immaculate Conception Parish, 8842 119th Street, Delta, BC.  A reception will follow.

John Cornelius Hoare, age 70, passed away suddenly at his home in Salmon Arm on January 29, 2017. John is predeceased by his parents Frank and Leona, and Marie, his wife of 43 years. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Connie, Amanda and Jamie, his sister Randi, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born in Vancouver on December 2, 1946, and adopted into a loving home, John attended St. Helen’s Elementary and Notre Dame Secondary, both in Vancouver. On January 27, 1973, he married Marie at St. Paul’s Church in Richmond, surrounded by many family and friends. In 1986, they became parents when they adopted their 3 daughters.

John was passionate about self-defence and took up karate in his teens. He eventually obtained a black belt and taught self- defence classes. Always interested in health care and science, he became a certified orthotist, and later pursued pre-veterinary studies at the Faculty of Agriculture at UBC.

A change of career brought him to work with the teamsters, local 213, where he developed many friendships among his colleagues.

  1. Our thoughts and prayers go out to John’s family. I was at Notre Dame High School with John and later reconnected as both of us ended our working days at Teamsters 213. It was a pleasure to know John and Marie and to have worked many years with John.
