Hoover, Freeman “Bland”

November 30, 1930 – December 16, 2016
at the age of 86 years
The family of Freeman Bland Hoover of Vernon, B.C. is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bland at the Vernon Hospital on the morning of Friday December 16, 2016. 
Bland was 86 years of age and had been retired for thirty years after being employed at several municipal offices in B.C. and Saskatchewan. 
Bland leaves to mourn one son Sid (Shelley), 2 grandsons Matthew (Michelle) and Ryan (Samm), four sisters Shirley Dill (Bert), Maxine Carbert (Ross), Jean Evans, Lorraine Rowan, one brother Bruce (Diane), one sister-in-law Vera, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and companion Mary Nelson, her son Scott (Sherry), her daughters Trudy (Matt), Lisa (Gary) and her grandchildren Nathan (Lea-Anne), Alex, Lilly and Cheyenne.  Bland was predeceased by his son Daryl, brothers Chris and Ted, sister-in-law Muriel, brother-in-law Jim Rowan and parents Violet and Thomas. 
Also, a thank you to the staff and friends at Creekside Landing where he was currently residing. 
At Bland’s request, a service will not be held.

  1. My Uncle Bland was kind and generous to us kids when he visited us in Calgary. I have happy memories of visiting him in Cranbrook and camping at Wasa Lake with Bland and his boys. The picnics will be quieter without his hearty smile and laughter.

  2. It was a casual meeting with Bland, but his presence on this ground will be missed. The true nature of someone with character, and values is always a loss.
    My thoughts are with the family, and my friend Jean.
