Koprowsky, Michael Julian

October 9, 1933 – October 14, 2019
at the age of 86 years

A small graveside ceremony will take place at Mt Ida Cemetery Friday October 25 at 3 pm. (please note time change)

At the age of 86 years with his family at his side Michael Koprowsky passed away peacefully October 14 2019. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Teresa, three sons Mark (Marcy) of Salmon Arm, Allan of Whitehorse, Darren (Sandra) of Salmon Arm; four grandchildren, Lisa, Bradley, Brayden, Travis; two brothers and two sisters Stella Killeen of Okotoks AB, Mary (Bob) Daleug of Athabasca AB, Albert (Florence) of Dawson Creek BC and Frank (Marilyn) of Red Deer AB; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John; mother Nellie; brothers Don, Walter, Adam; sister Frances.
Mike was born on October 8 1933 in Spedden AB and raised on the farm in Boyne Lake where he appreciated a well trained horse and a hunting dog. Moving to Edmonton to start a family he spent time working in Elsa Yukon and Cassiar BC , later he put his mark on the concrete world with the installation of the UFO landing pad in St Paul AB.  Moving the family to Sparwood BC he found his calling over the next 30 plus years in the coal mining industry at the Balmer operations, with included highlights of operating the largest truck in the world. Working the tire pad “Big Mike” always had a big smile for his crew 3.  Fishing the Elk River and hunting was a favorite hobby for him. In 2009 he and Teresa moved to Salmon Arm to share their time with the “boys” and the grandkids.

The family wishes to thank the SLGH staff, Dr Kirkman and Dr Grieve, with a special thank you to the staff at Mt Ida Mews for their love and care over the last few years.
In accordance with his wishes a small graveside ceremony will take place at Mt Ida Cemetery Friday October 25 at 3 pm.
