at the age of 94 years
Sophie Molodowich passed on to eternal rest inVernon’s Heron Grove with her eldest daughter Hilda by her side. The family wishes to thank all the caring and loving caregivers and nurses who took such good care of her.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing four children Hilda, John, Percie and Tena, two grandchildren Shelly-Anne (Larry) and Robin (Sue) as well as two much loved great granddaughters Sierra and Alyssa. In Alberta she leaves one sister Johanna and her sister in law Sophie in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Sophie was born in Uithuizen, Groningen, Holland and at ten years old immigrated to Canada. Her parents Henry & Hilda Wierenga along with her six siblings made the ocean voyage. In 1928 they traveled across Canada by train and settled in Neerlandia,AB, a small patch settlement 100 miles north ofEdmonton.
When she was 21 years old she married John Molodowich of Manitoba. They spent their first 18 years of married life in Alberta and then moved to British Columbia. They lived in Chilliwack, Prince George and McBride. Sophie lived for 40 years in McBride where she enjoyed farming, gardening flowers and making hundreds of bottles of raspberry jelly which she gave away. She loved flowers, birds and small dogs as well al her church and hospital groups and her coffee klutch through the years.

I am so sorry to hear of Sophie’s passing, she was a great lady and a huge part of McBrides History! May she be in Peace now, but sadly missed. My heart goes out to her family sincerly Angel
