Nichols, David Harold

June 4, 1946 – March 1, 2023
at the age of 76 years:

A service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1:00 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church,  2385 Golf Course Drive, Blind Bay, BC.

David Harold Nichols passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on March 1st, 2023.  He was born on June 4th,1946 in Lucky Lake, SK and was the oldest of two children.  Dave graduated from Moose Jaw Technical School with a diploma in Civil Technology and spent most of his career working with SaskTel in Regina. In 1970 he married Wilma Germaine and together they raised three children. They both retired in 2000 and in 2002 they left Regina and moved to Blind Bay, BC to get away from the wind and cold of Sask.

Dave had a few hobbies of which were curling (his favorite), golfing, hunting, fishing and boating. He especially loved his fall hunting trip to the cabin in Sask. and in summer he enjoyed taking friends and family out on his pontoon boat on the beautiful Shuswap Lake. He waterskied until he was 73 years young!  Dave also enjoyed taking his family on road trips all over Canada and parts of the USA. He and Wilma took many vacations all over the world and Mexico was also a great get away from the snow in winter.  Dave was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.  This church was very dear to him as he was very instrumental with the design and overseeing the construction of it.

Dave (Papa) is survived by his wife Wilma, children Jared (Jayne) Nichols, Janelle (John) Tottenham and James (Genny) Nichols. Grandchildren Hailey, Ethan, Derek Nichols, Nathanial and Abigail Tottenham and Emmet Nichols, sister Denise (George) Wilson. Dave was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Mavis Nichols.

A heartfelt thank you to all the kindness and thoughtfulness of friends who dropped off food, flowers, cards, messages and hugs after Dave’s passing. A thank you also to the staff at Mt. Ida Age Care home for the kindness and care shown to Dave especially during his last days there.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Salvation Army, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice.

  9. So sad to hear this news. Wilma I know what you are going through as I lost Doreen three months ago. Each day will get better and all your current and past friends will keep you in their prayers. I remember the last time we met in PV , Mexico. We had just arrived and I was sitting at the outdoor Bar waiting to get into our room and Dave walked on by. I sure surprised him when I said “Hey Dave how you doing”. We had a good visit with you then and reminisced about the many years working together at Sasktel and the wonderful Xmas parties at your home in Regina and of course the many golf games. Remember the good times as there were so many. So sorry for your loss Wilma and family.
