Pat was born in Lanore, Manitoba to Emily and James Castle. Losing her father at 3 years of age Pat learned how to pitch in. Pat met and married James Piggott on May 13 1948 where they settled in the Bardel district of Manitoba on the Piggott family farm. The family soon grew and in 1964 Jim took a job with his brother Howard in Salmon Arm where they relocated to their own 5 acre farm. Pat made Jim promise to never move again and Salmon Arm is where they stayed.
Pat enjoyed farm life but also worked and volunteered in town. She was a member of the Legion, Pipes and Drums and The Royal Purple. Pat was very well known for her handmade crafts and especially her knitting and in the past few years sold them at winter craft sales. She loved music especially the old classics and spoke fondly of the old time dances.
“Nana” passed away peacefully in the morning of May 7th at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. Left behind to grieve is her husband (not quite 65 years) Jim, her children Bill (Cindy), Wes, Ann Laitinen (Peter) and Howard (Brenda), 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren of whom she was very proud.

Dear Uncle Jim and family,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Auntie Pat. I was so fortunate to have spoken to her only a few weeks ago. We did not see each other alot over resent years but I have many fond memories as a child visiting the farm in Manitoba. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I send many hugs. That is one thing I remember well, she certainly knew how to hug and always had a smile and kind word. She will live in the hearts of many and never be forgotten.
