Sanders, Jerri Mae

SANDERS, JERRI WNovember 17, 1951 – June 14, 2013
at the age of 61 years

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister and aunt, Jerri Mae (Potts) Sanders on June 14, 2013. Jerri fought a short and courageous battle with cancer and passed away with her two sons and daughter-in-law by her side.

She was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan before moving to Alberta to meet her husband and start a family. When she wasn’t raising her two boys, she was working as a nurse at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital. For the final chapter of her life, she moved to Salmon Arm, BC with her husband where they spent their final years together in the Shuswap.

Jerri was predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate Rick and her parents Frederick and Shirley Potts. She leaves behind her sons Patrick (Jessica) and James,  her sister Jan Elliot, her brother Randie Potts, loving nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Her laughter and smile will live long in the hearts of those who knew her. The family will be having a private celebration of her life in Vancouver where she will join her husband. We would like to thank the staff at Bastion Place for the wonderful care they provided to our mother.

  4. Jerri was only legally my “mother” for the past 7 months but she welcomed me into the family from the first time we went to visit them in Salmon Arm. I remember feeling so nervous, not knowing what to expect. All my nerves flew out the window when I heard her unforgettable laugh and saw the love she had for her husband and her sons. You could tell instantly that she was the glue in their beautiful family.

Thank you Jerri for being a wonderful support and role model to me. I hope I can be half the wife you were to Rick. I think we can all find some peace in knowing you two are together again.

Thank you for raising two wonderful sons and providing me with a husband that is genuine, loving, generous, hard-working, supportive and everything else I could have ever dreamed my husband to be.

Thank you for touching our lives in a way that will never be forgotten. We miss you so much already. xoxo

  5. Randie, Jan, Patrick (Jess) and James,
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. And Jerri, we hope your rainbow finds Rick waiting for you at the end, Love Leif and Carol

  6. As two mothers we celebrated the wedding of our children such a short time ago. To Jerri – I will make sure our grandchildren know they have two grandmothers who love them very much!! To Pat and James – I may be an in-law but, I hope, if you ever need the love. hug or advice of mother just ask. No one will ever replace your beautiful mother – but know there are lots of us who love you!! I know Jerri & Rick will be watching over their family, together again.

  7. My sincere sympathies to you, James and Patrick. Also, to Jan and Randie. Heaven has gained another angel!! I worked with your mom (sister) in the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital. I loved her work ethic, her smiles, and her charisma for life. I will never forget her contagious laugh, and the fun we had together. I remember one morning, after we had worked the night shift together, it was freezing cold out, and storming. Jerri had forgotten her gloves, and had to drive home to Gibbons. I wanted her to stay at my house in the Fort, but she refused, so I gave her my thick winter gloves to wear. I think she really liked them….as i never got them back!!!! But what are friends for!! Sadly, I never kept in touch with Jerri after she moved from the Fort, but I have thought of her often. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!!

  8. James and Patrick I am truly sorry for your loss, may she live on forever in your hearts. My prayers and thoughts are with you both at this time!

  9. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  10. To Pat, Jess and Family,
Thinking of you in this hard time. An angel on each shoulder now to watch over your (growing) family.
Wishing you happy memories and peaceful thoughts,
    Love Jenn & Dallas Flaman
