Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m.on Saturday, October 1 at Broadview Evangelical Church Chapel, 350 30th St. NE. Rev. Hamish Buntain and Rev. DK Hale officiating. Interment at Mt. Ida Cemetery.

SCHMIDT, Rev. Allen Edward went to be with his Lord on September 25, 2016 at age of 83 in Salmon Arm, BC.
He was born at home in Barriere, BC on October 30, 1932.
Allen was predeceased by his parents, Ernst and Agda Schmidt, His sister Agda Easingwood, and brother, Ernest.
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine of 62 years and children, Rebecca Wade (Larry); Leanne Hart (Derrick); Joe Schmidt (Eileen), six grandchildren; Christy and Michael Wade, Brianna and Rylan Hart, Auden and Emery Schmidt. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth Reist, Joanne Ottewell (David), Brothers Melvin Schmidt (Thelma), Theodore Schmidt and several nieces and nephews.
Allen began his life on the farm in Barriere, BC. When he was an older teenager he established a trucking business in the community. Feeling called by God to be a minister, he sold the business and completed his high school education in Vancouver, BC.
He met Catherine Lee at Sunnybrae Bible Camp and later began dating her in Vancouver. He and Catherine went to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas where they both graduated in 1957 with Bachelor of Arts degrees. From there they moved to Mill Valley, California to attend Golden Gate Baptist Seminary where Allen received his Master of Divinity degree. While at seminary he began a mission church in Fairfield, CA. He was called to Pike Road Baptist Church in Surrey and went from there to begin Royal Heights Baptist Church, Delta, BC.
After serving there for 15 years he was asked to serve as Canadian Coordinator for the fledgling group of Southern Baptist churches in Canada. When the group of churches formed the Canadian Southern Baptist Convention he was elected executive director/treasurer. After 13 years he retired from that position and accepted a call to Richmond Hill Baptist Church where he served for five years. He and Catherine retired to the Shuswap in 2003 after which he became interim pastor at Mountainview Baptist Church for several years.

  2. My prayer for comfort and peace for family and friends. Pastor Schmidt, a man of integrity and deep faith…..a leader and Pastor that I was blessed to know in my good or troubled times.

  3. Although many years have passed Allen will always be in hearts for his assistance in bring life to Richmond Hill Baptist. It was an answer to prayer that brought Allen into our struggles and with strength and knowledge he turned our dreams into reality that we still enjoy today.
    Our thoughts and prayers are with you on this day of victory in Christ Jesus.
