April 2, 1957 – September 2, 2024
at the age of 67 years:
Geraldine “Geri” Stewart (Halliburton), a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on September 2nd, 2024, after a 9 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her boys to the very end.
Geri was the heart of her family. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Halliburton, and grandson, Lincoln. As the devoted mother of four sons—Ben, Doug, Dan (Chali), and Dustin (Sam)—she also embraced many others with her nurturing spirit. She adored spending time with her family, especially her nine surviving grandchildren: Gauge, Dexter, Bremmy, Charlie, Vienna, Diesel, Corbin, Oakland, and Harlow, ensuring that her deep love of family was passed down to each generation.
Geri is survived by her father, Herb, and her siblings: brothers Dwayne (Dawn), Steve (June), Sandy (Arlene), Gordon, and her sister Kelli (John). She was also a beloved aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, never missing the chance to send a birthday card to each of them.
Geri proudly served for 25 years in the Armed Forces, dedicating much of her time as an officer with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, particularly the 222 Shuswap Squadron in Salmon Arm and at the Pacific Regional Gliding School in Comox during summers. In addition to her military service, she spent over 30 years as a dedicated travel agent at various agencies in Salmon Arm. A celebration of life is being planned, with details to be announced at a later date.
Condolences to the families of such a wonderful person. She was a sister to me since we were 10 years old. I miss her terribly. She was my rock and always tried to keep me out of trouble. Always ready to help and did a great job raising 4 boys. She will be sadly missed by all RIP my friend
Aunt Geri was nothing short of a fantastic lady. Always welcoming, and always kind. She battled her way through life harder than anyone should ever have to and I never once heard her complain. I’m happy she’s at peace now. She’ll be fondly remembered.
I was really shaken to see that Geri had passed. We lost touch over the last few years as I was derailed by health problems as she was also. When she was at the Armory, we had many laughs and I had an opportunity to get to know her boys. Rest easy, my friend. You did an exemplary job and I will see you on the other side.
Love, Helen
This is a sad moment in the lives of many! This lady touched the hearts of many and will be sorely missed by all that met her. I will definitely miss this lady but will always fondly remember my times with Geri. A special woman indeed.
Geri was probably the strongest person I know. Rest in peace my sister, your suffering is done.
Heather and I extend our deepest condolences to Geri’s family and friends. Always appreciated her hard work and dedication to the cadet program during her many summers at the RGS. She was a friend to all.
Condolences to the family and friends. Geri was truly one of the most dedicated members I have interacted with. She will truly be missed. May God grant her eternal Peace.
I’m so sad to hear of Geri’s passing. I thought she would live forever, especially since she kicked the hospice’s butt and went home! She worked with my husband at the Air Cadet Gliding School in Comox and I feel blessed to have known her, even if it was just for a short time. She was such a soft-spoken, kind-hearted human being, she will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Rest in peace my friend ❤️
Condolences to the family! I have fond memories of Geri from my years with cadets and the gliding program. Very sorry to hear of her passing, but her memory certainly lives on not only with her family, but in the hundreds of cadets and officers she interacted with over the years.
My heartfelt condolences to your families. I had the pleasure of working with Gerri during many fun summers in Comox.
Condolences to all the family. Geri was a good friend and we had lots of good conversations together.
