Weaver, Roy Allan

September 11, 1951 – December 2, 2022
at the age of 71 years:     

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Roy Allan Weaver, AKA Winky, mourns the passing of our beloved brother. With family at his side, he passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and a debilitating stroke.

Roy was born in Natal, BC and moved to Fernie in 1969. A true valley boy at heart, he spent his life in Fernie until be fell ill and moved to Salmon Arm to be closer to family.

Roy was a soft spoken, kind and generous man. He was hardworking and loved his time with family, friends and his beloved dog Kyute. Roy worked most of his career as a rock crush operator for Nohels/Sharp until health issues occurred.

Roy was predeceased by his parents Roy and Peggy Weaver. He is survived by his brother Ken (Heidi) Weaver of Blackfalds, AB, sister Carol (Marc) Bustin of Delta, BC, brother Larry (Angela) Weaver of Edgewater, BC, sister Tracie (Mark) Heinke of Sicamous, BC, four nieces, three nephews, numerous great nephews and nieces, one great, great niece, aunts, uncles and many friends.
A heartful thanks to the doctors, nurses and care teams at: Rocky Mountain Village, Fernie, BC and Mt. Ida Mews, Salmon Arm, BC, Kelowna Rehabilitation Centre, Elk Valley Hospital and Cranbrook General Hospital who took such exceptional care of him. Thank you also to his dear friends that went above and beyond to make his day better.

As per Roy’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held in Fernie at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Association or the BC SPCA.
