October 22, 1948 – April 24, 2019
at the age of 70 years

Memorials will be held in two places.  One in Salmon Arm on 19 May 2019 at 2:00 pm.  (The Seymour Room, Prestige Harbourfront Resort, 251 Harbourfront Drive NE Salmon Arm BC).  The other in Surrey on 08 June 2019 at 2:00 pm.  (Piano Lounge, Arbourside Court, 13751 – 74th Avenue Surrey BC.  Family, friends & acquaintances are invited to attend either or both memorials

Lorne passed away on 24 April 2019 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife April, his mother Sybil, his brother Howie (Carmen), his four nieces and nephews Chris (Tracy), Matt (Ember), Carley (Aaron), and Kate (Kyle), and his five great-nieces Nevada, Avery, Kaydence, Kolby and Kendall.
Memorials will be held in two places. 
Lorne was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on 22 October 1948.  He was the second of three boys born to Al & Sybil Smith: Greg, Lorne, and Howie.  As an “Air Force Brat” he attended many schools: St. Thomas ON, Portage la Prairie MB, Alliston ON, Camp Borden ON, Winnipeg MB, and North Vancouver BC in 1965.  He graduated from high school in North Vancouver in 1967.  He worked in a Danish furniture store on 4 Avenue in Vancouver until the downturn of the 80’s.  He worked maintenance at The 2400 Hotel on Kingsway.  Lorne and April met in 1989.  They moved to Westbank in 1992, where he worked at Weston Bakeries; they were married in 1996; they moved to Vermilion Alberta in 2000 where he worked at the bakery in the Co-Op Grocery; and they returned to Vancouver in 2004, where Lorne worked for Quest Food Recovery.  Lorne & April moved to Salmon Arm in 2017, where Lorne retired and enjoyed his soccer, his puzzles, his cat and his garden.

  1. Uncle Lorne will be missed dearly I’m happy I’ve had the chance to spend some memorable moments with him rest easy forever in our hearts and never forgotten
