November 23, 1936 – August 25, 2025
at the age of 88 years:

A celebration of life in honor of Nancy will be held on Friday, September 12, at 1:00 pm, at the Elks hall in Salmon Arm:

Passed away August 25 2025 in Salmon Arm BC, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born November 23, 1936, in Westlock Alberta, to parents Bernice and Ambrose Griffith.  A sister to Thomas, Winnifred, and Georgianna.  She grew up in Flatbush, moving to Salmon Arm in 1951, for her high school years, being valedictorian for her 1954 grad class.   She married Len in Chilliwack in October 1956.  After some moving around following Len’s work, they eventually settled in Salmon Arm in 1960 where they raised their four children.  Nancy supported her family in all their endeavors and still made time to volunteer for many community groups.  Her love and joys were her involvement in the community and giving of herself to others, most of all friends and family.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Len in 2018 and by brother Tommy and sister Georgie.  She will be deeply missed by her grateful children, Robert, Debbie, Carol (John), and Gail, 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Dillan, Aubrey, Vance, Tyler, Sydney, Lynsey, Ryan, Tyson, Ericka, Kelly and 11 great grandchildren, Mia, Lewis, Ava, Theo, Annie, Cora, Owen, Lucus, Presley, Landon, and Haney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salmon Arm Royal Purple, or the charity of your choice.

  1. My condolences to the Kurta family. Nancy was a gem.

  2. I was so saddened when I heard Auntie Nancy had passed. Though she was not blood related she was family. My mom Helen and her began as pen-pals at the age of nine and was one of the reasons our family moved to Salmon Arm. We all benefitted from their close friendship. Auntie Nancy was a beautiful person that gave herself to her community, family and friends. I will always remember her terrific laugh. One of my fondest memories was her cooking pancakes and bacon on the outside grill at the cabin. . As a very young child I thought Len and Nancy had 17 children because that was the usual number of kids for any of the meals she always prepared.
I will miss our chats and the pictures she would text me of all the wonderful things her family was up to.
Sending prayers and love to you all. She truly was a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed❤️ Much Love, Leean Porter

Aunty Nancy was the most amazing lady ever! I have so many amazing memories of being at the lake and at the house in Salmon Arm.

She had a very special way of making everyone feel so special.

I will never forget her beautiful smile and cheery and caring ways. She will never be forgotten

  5. We bought our home from Nancy when we moved to Salmon Arm several years ago. We only met a few times but I could tell she was a kind and generous person. She left behind some items that she thought we could use. We thought it was a mistake but we found out she purposely left that for us. She made sure all the records on things that had been done on the house were left as well. And even brought us a Christmas gift shortly after we moved in. We found out we had a connection in Chilliwack as we had lived on the same street as her niece. I am sure she will be dearly missed and I am glad that I had a brief chance to know her.
