Kenneth Wayne Finstad went to be in the presence of the Lord on Sunday, September 21, at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, BC. He was 72 years old.
Ken was born April 10, 1952 at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC. He was the loving husband of Joan Skidmore Finstad, and a devoted father to two sons: Wayne and Trevor (Kim) Finstad. He was also a proud Grandpa to Noah and Haleigh (children of Trevor and Kim), and Ivanna (daughter of Wayne).
Ken was the beloved son of the late Milan Finstad and the late Lorna Rodgers Finstad, and a cherished brother to Gary Finstad (Brenda) and Randy Finstad (Carole).
Ken was called to pastoral ministry by God between his first and second year of Bible College at Okanagan Pentecostal Camp in Falkland, BC. Together, he and Joan faithfully pastored churches across British Columbia—including in Princeton, Cache Creek, Kamloops, Victoria, Invermere, Vanderhoof, and Malakwa—before retiring in Salmon Arm in 2015.
There was no distinction between “Ken the husband and father” and “Ken the pastor.” He brought the same integrity, compassion, and commitment to both roles. Ken was known for his fairness, a quality that made him a trusted leader not only in his churches but also in civic and community projects wherever he lived.
One of the greatest joys of Ken’s life was having his grandchildren, Noah and Haleigh, living just a half-hour away — allowing him to spend time with them regularly and form a close and lasting bond.
Ken’s legacy of faith, kindness, and service will live on in the lives he touched and the family who loved him deeply.

Dear Joan and family, we at Snow Valley church in Fernie are very sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. We so enjoyed Joan and Ken’s ministry when they filled in for us in Fernie. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His love.
Knowing and working with Ken was a joy. He lived his faith in all that he did.
Our prayers go out to the family .
Cousin Kenny, It was good to get the chance to talk with you earlier this summer in Salmon Arm. Thoughts go out to all the family. You will be missed but we all know you are in a better place now. God Bless all!
Kenny, a really interesting and special person, our nephew and cousin. As a little boy always laughing , teasing and the bright spot at our family gatherings. Ken and Joan gave us love and friendship. Our lives are better because of them.
