July 2, 1948 – January 9, 2025
at the age of 76 years:
Guy passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 in Salmon Arm, BC at Bastion Place Hospice after a valiant and brave fight against colon and liver cancers.
He is survived by his wife Olevia, daughter Michelle, son Jason, granddaughter Summer (Dan) and great-grandchildren Hudson, Coast and Portland. He is also survived by his siblings Francine, Roger, Pauline, Suzanne, Lionel, Rachel and Nicole.
He worked at CN rail for 32 years, spending the majority of his career living and working in Smithers, BC where he married and started his family before relocating to Kamloops, BC in 1991 where he then retired.
Guy loved spending time at White Lake, fishing and socializing. His outgoing and charismatic personality and, at times, offside humor endeared him to others throughout his life allowing him to form close and lifelong friendships wherever he went. He will be incredibly missed by a wide array of close friends and family.
The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Shuswap Lake Hospital’s Oncology unit where Guy received incredible care and support during his treatment. To Dr. Adriaan Heunis the family would also like to express their thanks for his ongoing and personalized support which has been much appreciated not only through Guy’s cancer diagnosis but also as his family doctor.
The family cannot thank the nurses and care aid workers at Bastion Place Hospice enough for their extremely compassionate, empathetic and loving care not only of Guy while he was there but also of the family during that time.
As per Guy’s wishes in lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Bastian Place Hospice in Salmon Arm via the Shuswap Lake Hospital Foundation – https://www.shuswaphospitalfoundation.org/ or to a cancer research charity of your choice.
A celebration of life in Guy’s memory will occur on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 1-3pm, Fairfield Inn, 790 16 Street NE, Salmon Arm, BC
We are saddened by Guy’s passing, a truly very friendly man. Guy was the kind of person who thought every stranger was a friend he had not yet met. We will sincerely miss his smile and quirky funny comments and jokes, I can’t look at a Montreal Canadian jersey and not think about him. Whitelake will not be the same, but we’ll see you again one day, and I’m sure if the Canadians ever win another cup, we’ll hear your cheers from heaven.
Sending our condolences to Eve, and family…when remembering Guy it is always with a smile…always willing to help someone, we are so glad our paths crossed at White Lake
Our most sincere condolences to you, Eve, Michelle and Jason as well as the rest of your family.

Our sincere condolences to Guy’s family. Guys was a beauty! I met Guy many years ago from fishing at White Lake, he was always willing to have chat about the day, share a secret, or lend a hand. And of course, his sense of humor, it was brilliant! I will miss him stopping by our trailer to have a laugh on his way to his boat to start the days fishing adventure. RIP my friend. Gone but not forgotten. Sincerely, the Stollery’s

I met Guy a few years ago when I first came to White Lake, and he was the very first person who greeted me and made me feel like I was among friends. The memories we are left with will last our lifetime. Many stories told. The best was the fish story we pulled on Norm! Nobody but Guy could have pulled that off! We still laugh about it.
Mush love to Eve, Michelle and Jason as they navigate the grief emptiness and loss they will feel. Don’t rush the process. Remember and cherish.❤️❤️❤️❤️
My heartfelt condolences to Jason, Michelle, Eve, and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I was extremely lucky to be able to call Guy my father-in-law for many years. He was very welcoming, always there for those who needed him, and he loved to have a good time with friends and family. He was a fantastic grandpa to Summer (Dan) and made a pretty awesome great-grandpa to the boys as well. Thank you for all the laughs, the lessons, the memories, and the love over the years. Thank you for all that you brought to this world. I hope for all who knew and loved Guy to think of all the great times you had with him. It will surely bring a smile to your face, if not cause you to burst into tears of laughter while fighting through the tears of grief. Rest peacefully Guy. You were one of a kind.
