at the age of 83 years:     

With great sadness we announce that Joan left this world early on the morning of July 23.  With family by her side, she became a free spirit and joined her husband in heaven.

Joan is survived by her daughter Lianne (Brent) and son Kristopher (Leslie) grandchildren Alexander, Braydon, Graham and Rielle. Joan was predeceased by Allen, her husband of 63 years.

Joan was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, the middle of three children to Grace and Olaf Christensen. In 1960 she married Allen, the love of her life, and they travelled across Canada with the Air Force. After a number of moves and career changes they settled with their two kids on the West Coast.  When they decided to retire it was the Shuswap they fell in love with, and in 2000 began building their own home in Anglemont. The project was a labour of love for them both.  It was there that they found a deep sense of community and developed friendships that lasted their lifetimes.

While Joan had a number of health challenges most of her life, never ever did they define her. She was eternally optimistic, always seeing the future with bright possibility. She was an avid gardener finding peace and joy anytime she could put her hand to the soil and tend her plants.  She was a talented artist who captured beauty with a variety of mediums and her art is treasured by those she gifted it to. Joan was always eager to spend time with friends, the Queen of entertaining with snacks and dips and a lot of laughter. Most of all what defined her was the love and pride she had for her family.  Sometimes boastful but always unconditional, she let all of us know how important we were to her.

She is dearly missed and a memorial/celebration of her life will be held in the fall.

  A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 2:00 pm at Sorrento Evangelical Free Church at Cedar Heights Social Centre, on Cedar Drive in Blind Bay.     

We will miss Mark, his sense of humour, his love for people and his fondness for making a deal. Mark went to be with our Lord on Monday, July 21, after a long battle with cancer leaving behind his wife Jasmine and daughter Allyson, two sons from a previous marriage with Connie, Matthew (Laura) and Andrew (Krista), five grandchildren, a sister, Deirdre (Bill) and a brother Brian, (Emma).
Mark was born in Southampton, England, and as a young child travelled with his missionary parents to China and then to Japan and eight years later eventually to Swan River, Manitoba. After six years in Taylor Elementary, his family moved again with Mark and his sister to Bangkok. Eventually the two young people attended a boarding school in Dalat, Vietnam. In 1965 Mark came to Rocanville, Saskatchewan, to finish his grade 12. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained his B.Ed. Mark moved to Lloydminster where Matthew and Andrew were born.
Mark was a superb teacher and high school principal in both Lloydminster and Okotoks.  In 2000, Mark decided to move to China to teach. He taught at several schools and then in 2003 he was selected as the first principal for Sino Canada School near Shanghai, a British Columbia Offshore School, and his students remember him fondly.
While in China Mark met and married Jasmine and in 2018 he retired and they moved to Canoe so that Allyson could finish her schooling in Canada.  
A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 2:00 pm at Sorrento Evangelical Free Church at Cedar Heights Social Centre, on Cedar Drive in Blind Bay.

With deep sadness and profound love, we announce the peaceful passing of Lesley Marilyn Lockerby, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, partner, and friend, at the age of 77 following a brief illness.
A long-time resident of Sicamous, B.C., Lesley called the community home for over 55 years. For the past decade, she also embraced a second home in Mesa, Arizona, where she spent her winters enjoying the sunshine, friendships, and an active lifestyle. Whether walking the scenic paths or enthusiastically playing pickleball, Lesley found joy and connection in the simple pleasures of daily life.
Lesley is lovingly remembered by her partner Frank; her children, Bruce (Ragan) and Tricia (Ken); and her beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Paige, and Hudson, who were the true lights of her life. She is also survived by her dear brother, Bob (Liz), and many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with kindness and creativity.
An adventurous spirit, Lesley had a passion for travel and exploration, always returning home with stories, souvenirs, and inspiration for her many creative projects. A gifted and thoughtful artist, she especially enjoyed book cutting and crafting heartfelt, handmade items. Her cozy knit slippers became a signature gift of comfort and care, treasured by all who received them.
Lesley’s gentle presence, radiant smile, and joyful laugh brought warmth to every room she entered. She was happiest surrounded by loved ones, whether sharing a meal, enjoying a quiet crafting afternoon, or recounting tales from her latest travels. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and connection.At Lesley’s request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., or that you honor her memory by engaging in a creative activity or going for a walk in nature—something she would have deeply appreciated.She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
