at the age of 84 years:

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Bertrand following a short and brave fight against lung cancer. Bert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and quiet strength touched many lives.

He was predeceased by his parents, two older sisters, and his cherished daughter Julie. He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy; his children John (Tammy), Ron (Nikki), Rick (Mandi), and Alanna; his five siblings; grandchildren Brandi (Josh), Brandon, Brenna, Lucas (Emma), Kayden (Camryn), Marley, and Ruby; and great-grandchildren Elliott, Charlotte, and Mariposa.

Bert was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1941. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces in his late teens and early twenties, then started his own drywalling business. Bert moved to Salmon Arm in 1977 from the Lower Mainland. Later, he pursued further education to become a certified R.V. Technician and proudly founded Tri Crown RV. He was a skilled craftsman who found joy in building, repairing, and fishing—always happiest with tools in hand or on the water in his boat with his family.

Bert will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his dedication to family, and his unwavering work ethic. He loved helping others and is missed immensely. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the memories he leaves behind.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral. Donations in Bert’s name can be made to the BC Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Kenneth ‘Desmond’ Baird, 79, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, following a stroke. Born on June 5, 1946, to Kenneth and Winona Baird, Desmond lived a life marked by faith, love, and a deep connection to nature.

Desmond leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Dorothy (née Strickland), their son Mark (Holly), and his cherished grandchildren, Arya (4) and Emery (1), who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother and fishing companion, Ron (Ditas). Desmond was predeceased by his parents.

A man of unwavering faith, Desmond made serving God the cornerstone of his life. He found solace and joy in his garden, where he lovingly tended to seeds, nurtured plants, and celebrated the harvest. His garden was not just a hobby but a reflection of his nurturing spirit. Equally, Desmond cherished long days spent fishing from a creek or from his canoe, always returning with a catch and a radiant smile. He delighted in sharing his bounty, especially with the elderly in his community.

Remembered for his gentle warmth and generous spirit, Desmond greeted every stranger with a bright smile and never passed a stream without stopping to scout for fish. His legacy will live on in the gardens he planted and the memories he created with those he loved.

Desmond’s family will feel his presence every time they pick from the garden he so carefully tended. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
