It is with a deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hilary Helen Gordon, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend. Hilary passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 6, at the Salmon Arm General Hospital. She is survived by her caring and attentive husband, Daniel (Dan) Golnick; her sons, Robert (Bob) Gordon of Edmonton, AB, and Timothy (Tim) Gordon, of Kelowna, BC; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and cherished friends.
Born on July 22nd, 1942, in Three Hills, AB, Hilary spent her childhood in Armstrong, BC, where she attended school. With a keen eye for detail and numbers, Hilary worked as an accountant for a variety of companies in various cities around the BC interior, such as Revelstoke, Kelowna, and Salmon Arm. During these years, she birthed two beautiful children: her first child, Robert, was followed a few years later by Timothy, her second child. During the early and middle years of her life, Hilary developed an appreciation for travel with treasured friends, and found herself in a variety of impressive and intriguing places, including China, Russia, and Bermuda. In her later years, Hilary met and fell in love with her second husband, Daniel Golnick. They married in 2012, and together they travelled the world hand in hand, exploring countries such as Thailand, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Australia; they drove to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, and explored Africa on a safari vacation. Hilary was an avid reader, bird watcher, and crafter, and especially enjoyed scrapbooking. In her later years, she also enjoyed housesitting and fishing with Daniel. Hilary possessed a snappy, dry wit, and she was not one to shy away from political conversations. Hilary did not wish for a formal memorial service in her honour, and her ashes will be spread by her husband and sons at locations specified by her.

at the age of 96 years:
It is with loving, grateful memories of a life well lived and hearts heavy with the loss, we announce the passing of Elspeth Fern Lindsay (Nee Burris) at 96 years of age.
Elspeth was born in Kamloops, BC Oct 27, 1928. The youngest of 5 children (Stewart, Joan, Helen, John, and Elspeth) born to Dr. Howard L. and Robina Burris. She attended grade school in Kamloops where her father joined the Burris Clinic. She completed her schooling at Balmoral Hall all girls school in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
During her family cabin trips to Blind Bay for the summers she met and married Graham Lindsay in November 15 of 1951. They had 4 children and raised them, and later a granddaughter, on what is now known locally as ‘the farm’ in Blind Bay. Many years were spent enjoying the farm life; gardening, tending to animals and flowers, cooking all of the nutritious vegetables grown on the farm. Grandma enjoyed baking and famously kept us coming back for her cookies, cheese moons and Nanaimo bars. Above all, Grandma loved her family. She was always there with unwavering support, empathy and unconditional love with a side of humor. We are so lucky to have this fabric of love woven into our lives – and that is her legacy.
Elspeth moved off the farm in 2007, where she then enjoyed luxuries like a thermostat and insulation. She continued to enjoy family gatherings, especially with the great grandchildren, as well as playing cards and baking.
In 2022 Elspeth settled in to Piccadilly Terrace assisted living home where she was known as ‘Ellie’. A different name, yet she remained resilient, witty, graceful, generous and full of love.
Elspeth is survived by her loving children; Steve Lindsay (Blind Bay, BC), Ellen Lindsay (Salmon Arm, BC), Jamie (Kerri) Lindsay (Chase, BC), and Sandra Lindsay (Armstrong, BC) and Grandchildren; Christine Lindsay-Niemi, Nikki Lindsay, Lester Mackenzie, Beth Mackenzie, Elisha Lindsay, Ilona Davidson and many very special great grandchildren: Ava, Lexi, Cadence, Scotty, Ellis, Emma, Layla, and Oaklen.
Very special thank you to the staff at Piccadilly for the care and attention our dear Gram received over her 3 years there.
We would also like to express deep gratitude to her doctor (Dr Thompson) and the staff at Maple Tree Medical clinic for her invested care over the years and at the end. Special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital ER, and Level 4.
There will not be a funeral service by request. In lieu of flowers, please send flowers or kind words to your loved ones.
