Goodrick, Marilyn Louise

Goodrick, Marilyn Louise

September 21, 1943 – August 9, 2025
at the age of 81 years:

A Celebration of Life for Marilyn will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, August 23 at 2827 Hilltop Rd., Sorrento, BC.

Marilyn Louise Goodrick (Scott), The adored Great grandmother, beloved mother and cherished wife of T.W Goodrick. Daughter of John & Dorothy Scott passed away peacefully on the morning of August 9th, 2025 in Salmon Arm.

A resident of Blind Bay though had lived throughout Canada and had touched the hearts of anyone she met. She will forever be remembered for knowing someone wherever she went. Her sharp wit and elegance made her memorable but it was her memory of others that was so deep and sincere.

Born in 1943 Vancouver was her first home, she began working in her fathers Garage at a young age and it didn’t take long before the stories of a young girl doing the work of gruff men began to circulate. To the point she had to be driven some say escorted by the local  police to the accident scenes to run her fathers wrecker. As she grew so did the efforts of the family and she would ultimately marry the man she met in her fathers bowling alley. A tall, dark and handsome man walked into the alley one evening and right behind him was Terry, a navy man.

I believe it was their third date when Terry’s car got the flat tire. Marilyn brought him back to her father’s shop and repaired the car. Her skill set in an era of masculine men and feminine women had caused him to get a good ribbing from the fellas and he slipped out the door into the street. Marilyn driving his car followed and once she found him, she never let go. Married Aug. 2nd 1963 they shared just over 62 years of marriage, had two children, that had five children of their own gifting another five great grandchildren.

They built businesses, homes and what is nothing short of a legacy together. Her name carried on by a little blond girl that runs a wrecker, far too young in her father and grandfathers shop. A testament to her influence. Every yellow rose a reminder of her sorority sisters, Beta Sigma Phi since 1971.

From her volunteer work in the local ice rinks to her careers with Woodward’s, Royal Trust and The Royal Bank of Canada she was always the one person people were willing to wait in line for. She will be missed but over and above will be celebrated by Terry, her sister Barb and husband Ron Baines. Her son Lorrie and wife Michelle Goodrick, her daughter Tracey and husband Chuck Mckinney, her grandchildren and their spouses Kaetlynn Mckinney,  Kira & Jason Lutterman, Kora & Dustin Holt, Kayle Goodrick, Josh & Jennifer Mckinney. Her great grandchildren Logan, Connor, Willow, Lane & Marlowe.

We are gathering in her honour at the place she wanted on Aug. 23rd at 3pm. We would like to thank the incredible staff at the Salmon Arm Hospital for their care & support. Fischers funeral Home for their guidance in sombre times. And please in lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be wonderful.  Bring your fond memories, stories and self.
