Our two families knew each other and we loved going to the Barchard pool and swimming there. Doug was a knowledgeable guy who rose horses, managed things at the farm for his parents and seemed to be able to do a lot of chores most kids our age would not have thought of.
A kind person…rest in peace, Doug.

I learned to swim in his parent’s pool when I was about 10 years old in Whonnock, B.C. Sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. We lost touch over the years , but played together as children. His mother was a kind woman who paid for a swim instructor for all the neighbourhood kids to learn to swim in their pool. Thanks to her I learned to swim. Doug was a great swimmer.

Worked with Doug on his dads farm in Fraser Valley when I was kid. He was quite the athlete. Strong swimmer. Nice guy.
