at the age of 79 years

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved “Pat” at the age of 79 years.
Born in Moose Jaw Sask. on Feb 2 1934, Pat passed peacefully Feb 19 2013 with family by her side.
Predeceased by her mother Vera Freeman, brothers Jack Marcy and Bob Marcy and her son Jim Bessette, left to mourn her loss is Pat’s eternally devoted husband of 61 years Norman, and her children Robin (Laurie) Salmon Arm, Norman (Kathy) Fort St James  and Sheri Winfield, her sister Colleen Linge Calgary, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pat lived in Moose Jaw Sask. during her younger years then moved to Kamloops where at age 15 she met the love of her life, Norman. They were married in Kamloops in 1952.
Pat and Norman lived in Ashcroft, Loon Lake, Lumby, Kamloops and Balmoral, then settled in Blind Bay where they spent the last 46 years.
She worked several jobs in her lifetime, some of which include Hallet’s Egg Plant, cooking at Scotty’s Cafe in Sorrento and for a time was Executive Secretary for the BC Lion’s Society.  Camping and fishing were some things that Pat enjoyed as well as her great love for flowers, white carnations being her favorite.
Pat will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother to many and welcoming to all with the coffee always on.

The family wishes to thank the staff of HillsideVillage for their exceptional care of Mom during her short stay there.
There will be no service at Pat’s request. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.

  1. Sorry to hear about your mom Sheri. She was a great lady and will be dearly missed. Darcy and family.

  2. To my Dad,
Always loving, protective and her knight. You are the man every woman dreams of. Mom never worried if the bills would be paid or the family fed. Your strength would guide us through it all. You cared for her for 65 years in sickness and in health. She loved you through it all. In her sickness I recall thinking I was the one she wanted by her side, but it was you Dad she waited for each day.Your smiling face, your gentle kiss, your loving embrace. The love you two shared is one I wish for my children. True pure love. I miss her every moment of every day. I held a very special place in her heart as her only daughter, one that I am honored to hold. I love you Dad, as I loved Mom.

  3. Thank you Terri, Grammy was a very big part of all her Grandchildren’s lives when they were little. Time and circumstance changed things but never her love.

  4. Thank you on behalf of my family.

  5. Thank you for thinking of us. She will be forver missed.

  6. Thank you so much Pegs. Mom dearly loved you and spoke of you often. She had such a tender heart for many and could be the voice of reason for those that would listen. The world (my world) has forever changed with her passing. Thank you for thinking of us

  7. Norm and family, we all send you our deepest sympathies in this very sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  8. Please accept our deepest and most sincere sympathy on the passing of Pat, to me “Mom Bessette”. She gave me support and a great shoulder when I so desperately needed it as a young girl and for years after, I just loved her. Just know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Somewhere Pat is caring for others that need her now, we truly are sorry for your loss.

  9. I am so sorry to hear about this. My condolences to you all.

  10. My most sincere condolences to this amazing & loving family. She will be in all of our memories and deeply missed.
