at the age of 61 years:
Guus Mannes, passed away on August 14, 2025, at the young age of 61. Born in 1963 in Amsterdam, Holland, Guus was fiercely proud of his Dutch heritage. He lived a vibrant life filled with passion, kindness, and a love for adventure, camaraderie, and the open road.
A journeyman auto mechanic by trade, Guus had a gift for bringing engines to life, and could diagnose and fix any vehicle he came across. Beyond the garage, Guus was a self-taught computer guru, always tinkering with the latest tech, solving problems, and sharing his knowledge with anyone who asked. His curiosity and ingenuity made him a master of both machines and motherboards.
Motorcycles were his other love. One of his favourite memories was fixing the transmission on the side of the road while on a motorcycle trip to California with his father. The wind in his hair and the rumble of the engine were his truest joys, second only to the company of good friends. Guus was the life of any party, with his infectious laugh and quick wit as he swapped stories late into the night.
Above all, Guus’s kind heart defined him. He had a soft spot for cats, often rescuing strays and ensuring they had a warm place to call home. His generosity extended to everyone he met—friends, neighbors, and strangers alike—always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.
Guus is survived by his beloved sister, Diana Mannes (Glen), nephew Christopher Mannes, niece Audrey Crouser, stepsisters Lori, Cindy and Leslie, and cherished friends.
The family extends their thanks to the care aides and all those who helped Guus with the health challenges that plagued him during his last few years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter in Guus’s name.
Ride on, Guus—you’ll forever be in our hearts.
