In loving memory of Mable “Jean” Chorzempa (nee Miller), born in Irma, AB January 30, 1933, died May 12, 2025 in Salmon Arm, BC, aged 92.  Jean was predeceased by her husband John of 53 years, she is survived by her youngest brother Thomas Miller, only child Irene, grandsons Ryan, Mathew and Heath, great granddaughters Jozn and Zyla and numerous nieces and nephews.

A retired teacher, she moved to Salmon Arm from Creston, BC with her husband in 1997.  Until 2003 she wintered in Bakersfield, CA golfing, cruising and dancing with her spouse who she lost to Alzheimer’s in 2008.  She continued to golf, cruise and do community work through the CWL, Second Harvest and In From the Cold to mention a few.  She was president and secretary treasurer for many years in her strata.  She loved to read, watch sports, grow flowers (especially roses), make her homemade Damson Plum “hooch” and spend time with family, friends and neighbours.  She was always willing to lend a hand.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A special thank you to the staff at the Shuswap Hospital, as well as the home care team and palliative care nursed for the exceptional care and support they provided during Jean’s final weeks.

  1. Dear Irene and John and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Jean.
What an amazing woman Jean was. She will be in my heart always for her warm and supportive friendship with my mother, Joan, while at Parkhaven. My too-few visits with Jean after my mom died, were filled with loving memories about their friendship and how much they had in common; and of her own dear family, whom she treasured.
My mom spoke highly of Jean and the amazing contributions she unselfishly made to her friends and her community and her world. Jean was an inspiration to our family.
I know she will be missed by all who knew her.
Sending deep sympathy to your family.
And yes, sweet roses to you, dear Jean.

  2. Irene, John and family

We are so sorry to hear of Jean’s passing. A true lady and a lovely friend. So enjoyed her company at the symphony, the quilt group, where she was the official cheerleader, and her warm greeting no matter where we ran into each other. Jean will be missed.

  5. I was sorry to hear about your mother Irene. I have very good memories of friendship with Jean. I share her name and you have
the same second name as myself. The years on the pipeline
traveling together brought many great special times together. May
she rest safely in the arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Praying all your happy memories help ease the pain.

  6. Irene, John and family
With heartfelt sympathy we wish to relate our condolences to you and your families.
What a friend we had in Jean. So loyal and sincere. We are left with the fond memories of the good times we had with Jean and John.
    Never to be forgotten.
Absent in the body, present with the Lord. Rest in peace dear friend.
In loving memory, Frank and Stella Bachur
