Norman Cleaver, 91 years old, passed away March 13 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital with his family at his side. Norm will be missed greatly by Agnes, his wife of 64 years of loving care. He is survived by his three children, Charlotte (Lorne), Harold (Marian), Curtis (Marilyn) and three grandchildren Kevin, Danielle and Christine.
Norm was born in Banff Alberta and grew up in the Fort McLeod area in a family of six kids. As was the family tradition he joined the Canadian Armed Forces as an aviation electrician at the age of 25 and was first stationed in Portage La Prairie. It was here, that it was his good fortune to meet and marry Agnes Bohn. His job took him to postings in France, Trenton Ontario, and Dartmouth Nova Scotia. His service with the Armed Forces saw Norm travel the world servicing military air craft and included a six month tour of duty in Yemen with the UN. After 25 years of service Norm and Agnes retired to their current property in Trinity Valley. Thirty years ago, when their winters became too cold and too long Queen Valley, Arizona became their winter home both for the warmth and for the company of their snow bird friends.
Family has always been first and foremost to Norm. Hunting trips with the sons, fishing or camping trips with the grand kids, or RVing with his sibling were his favorite times. One of his favorite stories to tell was of being taken for a plane ride over the Shuswap with his brother in law flown by his granddaughter pilot.
