Dickens, Betty Irene

DICKENS WFebruary 8, 1923 – June 3, 2016
at the age of 93 years

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty on June 3, 2016 at the age of 93.  Betty was born Feb., 8, 1923 at Normandy, England to Alfred and Adelaide Wellington.  She had only one sibling, her younger sister Eva.  In Aug. 1948, Betty and her parents moved to Canada, following her sister Eva who had moved to Canada in 1944.  They settled in Vancouver, where she later met Leonard Dickens, they were married Sept., 2, 1958.  They lived in Vancouver, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Enderby and then back in Salmon Arm.  She lost her beloved Leonard Dec., 27, 2010.  Unfortunately Betty was soon after diagnosed with Dementia and lived the last 5 years in care homes.  Leaving to mourn her is her sister Eva Wrigley, her nieces and nephews, Bill (Donna) Wrigley, (Lyndy) Wrigley, Elaine (Dallas) Dobbyn, Lynne (Dennis) Quinn, John (Sharon) Wrigley, Liz (Fritz) Ziercke and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives in England and Australia.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff in Cottage 2 at Hillside Village for their care and love, as well as Dr. Goldberg, for his compassion.  At her request there will be no service.
