Gona, Donald “Don” Andy

August 23, 1940 – November 3, 2025
at the age of 86 years:

On November 13, 2025, a graveside service will be held in the Mt. Ida Cemetery at 10am with a celebration of life later that day in the Canoe Senior’s Centre at 1pm.  Don’s long-time friend, Myron Crown will be officiating both.

Born August 23, 1940, in Petrolia, Ontario, Don passed away peacefully at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital on November 3, 2025, following a short illness, with his wife of 30 years, Bea, by his side.

Predeceased by his parents and stepdaughter Ardel.  He is survived by his sons Brian(Shelley) of Salmon Arm, BC, Ben(Shelley) of Edmonton, AB, William of Kelowna, BC and stepdaughter Wanda Dunn of Vernon, BC.  He will be remembered by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter Natalie Marie, as well as distant relatives and many friends.

Don’s adult working life mainly consisted of being self-employed, whether he was building houses, renovating, installing siding or his knack of wheeling and dealing practically anything in the search of his “1%.”  He enjoyed tinkering and was also known for his many, many jokes (good and bad).

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the SLGH for their care and attention to Don during his short stay.
