It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and nana, Phyllis “Maureen” Herting of Salmon Arm, BC, on April 28th, 2025.  She is survived by her loving husband, Don Herting, her beloved sons, Kelly (Leslie), Darrin, her grandchildren, Megan (Brett), Nathan and Bethany (Zach), step-grandchildren, Drew (Nicole) and Nicole (Logan) and baby Cayden.  She is further survived by her beloved sister, Stephanie, and many nieces and nephews who loved their Auntie Mo very much.  She was predeceased by her precious son, Ole, her parents, her twin brother, Stuart, and her sisters Velma and Mary.

Maureen was born on July 6th, 1943, in Vancouver, BC, to Walter and Phyllis Thompson.  Maureen moved around a few times in her early years living in Blue River, Monte Lake and Kamloops before she moved to Invermere where she lived for many years and then finally moving to Salmon Arm in 1978.

Maureen worked for many years at Mara Lumber, and then in doctors’ offices throughout her life.  She met very many lifelong friends wherever she went.  She has kept in touch with many of Ole’s friends since his death, and many of her children’s friends called her “mom”. Maureen brought so much love and joy to her family and friends and the wonderful memories will be cherished forever.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 24th, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Five Corners Pentecostal Church at 3160 10th Avenue SE, Salmon Arm, BC.  In lieu of flowers if you would like, make a donation in Maureen’s name to the SPCA, one of Maureen’s favourite charities.

  6. My most sincere condolences to you Don and your family. I am sad beyond words to lose my dear friend Mo. We met when we were 16 years old and working as usherettes at the Paramount Theatre. She was such fun to
work and be with. And, we’ve stayed friends all of these years through thick and thin as Maureen went through all of
her terrible health challenges. Words are inadequate except to say how sad I am for your loss. Hugs to you all.
