Hoskins, James Hamilton

November 29, 1947 – May 30, 2019
at the age of 71 years

Celebration of Life:  Saturday, June 29, 2019, 11:00 a.m., Fischer’s Funeral Services, Salmon Arm

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of James Hamilton Hoskins at the age of 71. Jim passed away quietly and at Bastion Palliative Centre on May 30th.
Jim was born in North Vancouver, and spent most of his working life at BCTel in North Vancouver and Salmon Arm. He loved to spend his time outdoors downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking, camping, road and mountain biking. He enjoyed helping out with most of the local nature clubs in Salmon Arm, and was an avid member of the hiking/biking clubs in Kelowna, Vernon and Kamloops as well. He collected stamps and loved nature photography. Jim would say his pictures included “nothing of the hand of man” in them, ”except trains”.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Colleen, his two sons David and Joe, with grandchildren Zac, Jacob and Daisy.
Our thanks go out to our GP, Dr. Angela Plessis and her office staff for their care and attention. Sincere thanks also to the diligent staff at the Palliative care unit at Bastion and Home Care personnel.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
An informal celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Fischer’s Funeral Home on June 29th at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. Please join us with your stories and memories of Jim.

  1. We are so sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. We first knew him through the North Shore Photographic Society many years ago. We moved 25 years ago from North Vancouver to Enderby and shortly after that we saw him in Salmon Arm: we had no idea he had moved here. Jim was a wonderful photographer and contributed so much to the photo clubs he participated in. Our sincere condolences to his wife Colleen and family.
