Hougen, Stanley Harland

January 10, 1935 – December 4, 2023
at the age of 88 years:

The family of Stanley Harland Hougen are saddened to announce Stan’s passing on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hillside Village in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 88. Stan was born to Sven and Helen on January 10, 1935 on the family farm in Smiley, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of three children, with older siblings Allen and Marguerite. Stan was predeceased by his wife Kay and survived by his four children: Greg, Sherry (Jim Geddes), Dean, and Ron (Kira Thompson); 8 grandchildren: Chris, Jay, Caylei, Kelsey, Cole, Carter, Kaelen, and Aiden; 6 great grandchildren: Zaidy, Oaklyn, Ember, Averie, Johnathan, and McKenna.

Stan and Kay started their family, along with an oilfield service business, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. Many years of hard work, and often cold weather, allowed them to retire to Salmon Arm, BC, where they enjoyed their true passion of running their own hobby farm. Kay was an amazing gardener of all things green and Stan enjoyed raising cattle and growing hay crops. Stan was a humble, hardworking man, who took pride in his Norwegian heritage. Among many things, he will be remembered by his family for his strong work ethic, witty sense of humor and love of company and conversation.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Hillside Village for their kind and compassionate care of Stan for the past three years.
