Jackson, Gloria Jean

February 7, 1945 – October 16, 2024
at the age of 79 years:

It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Mother. Born in Lachute, Quebec to Stanley and Florence Jackson, the oldest of one of four children. She married Guy Kelly, they had four children and lived on his farm until they moved out to BC in the late 70’s. They divorced later on and she worked as a nanny for a few different families before starting work as a sales associate.

On October 16, 2024 she passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her daughter Roxanne holding her hand, into the arms of Jesus with the blessed hope of his soon return in the twinkling of an eye. Gloria also wanted to say a huge thank you to Roxanne for staying by her side for months in the hospital and for all her help and support during her illness.

She also wants to thank her other children and her close friends Carol, Aunt Myrna, Dixie, Annetta and Helen for their help, support and love. And to all of her friends and family here in Vernon and back east who sent many prayers, love and well wishes for her. She wanted to give a special thanks and tons of love to Aunt Myrna and Dixie for their special sister friendship. A special thanks to Carol and Helen who have been her bestfriends/sisters for so many years, thank you so much and love you guys.

A lot of people recognized Gloria from working at Zellers, Target and most recently The Bay. She loved her job being around people and helping them especially at The Bay. She enjoyed her days and working with her co-workers there. She was highly respected and treasured and was known for her smile, her laughter and always being positive and happy. (To all of those at The Bay, thank you for making Mom’s days so enjoyable and for caring about her.)

Gloria loved butterflies, flowers, hot air ballons, the ocean, travelling, sunsets, sunrises, taking pictures and going for drives, but most of all she loved her family. She loved our family gatherings and being around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always up for doing fun thing and new adventures and most times lots of laughter. She loved us all so much.

Gloria will be deeply missed by her family. Her oldest daughter June (& Kevin) their children Nathan (& Dash -son Radomir) daughter Jasmine (children Jaydyn & Aubreey) her second daughter Roxanne, her son Nelson (children Amber, Tye (son Dylan), Katelyn, Samantha and Justin) and second son Elmer (& Andrea and their children Jade and Jared).  She’ll also be missed by her brother and close friend William (Billy) and his family and many cousins back east.  She was predeceased by her Mother, Father her brother Percy and a few angel grand and great grandbabies.

Special thanks to Dr. Schreve, some amazing nurses on the 2nd floor and to some very extra special nurses who were also Mom’s angels at the hospital – Stephanie, Jessica, Susie, T and Kaylee who were also a great support and comfort to Roxanne.

Gloria’s wish to her family and friends: Meet you at the gate in Paradise.

As per Gloria’s wishes there will be no service, only a private family gathering.

Thank you, Mom, for being “our” Mom, for all the great memories and your love. We were lucky and blessed to have you all these years but it still wasn’t long enough. You were so brave and strong and we were so proud of you. We love you and miss you so much and we will definitely meet you at the Gate, running into your arms.
