King, Peter Leslie (Pastor)

January 7, 1947 – April 2, 2025
at the age of 78 years:

Celebration of Life:  Saturday, June 14, 2025, 11:00 a.m., River of Life Community Church, 2405 Centennial Drive Blind Bay

Peter passed away just after midnight into early morning of April 2nd, in the arms of his wife Robyn and loved ones. After a short stay at Bastian Place Hospice. Peter surrendered his life over to Jesus, listening to the “Goodness of God” worship song, he had fought a brave battle with esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his older sister Jan Stretfield of Shoreham by the Sea UK, his wife Robyn and her daughters Krystyn and Sacia Parson, his sons Heath Neveu (Margot), Craig King (Teresa), Tyler King (Jana), numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren he dearly loved, from Vancouver Island, Grande Prairie Alberta and Saskatoon, Sask.  His niece Caroline and her children in the UK.  He was predeceased by his father Edwin, his mother Bertha, and half sisters Margorie, Diana, and brother Richard from his father’s first marriage. His second wife Lauren (mother to the sons) whom he greatly missed.

Peter’s life is hard to put in a few words, he lived a full life, his adventures and struggles back in England as a child born shortly after the war, his youth, and travels as a young man navigating life in the 60’s. He spent time in the British army, training in Medicine Hat Alberta, and a time in the 1972 N. Ireland conflict. These experiences had significant influence on his life, and he was always willing to share a good story or two. He returned to Canada in 1975 , to Saskatewan, and eventually ending up in Lloydminster. His citizenship fulfilled in  April of 1991.

Peter built a new life in Canada, he worked hard putting to use his exceptional skills as a pipefitter, machinist millwright, which he had trained for in the UK, and later carpentry and resort management.  These skills gave him opportunities throughout Europe and five years in Germany. He would share stories of those years, and by the grace and mercy of God he survived them! He would say “to young with too much money”.

In 1983, following his wife Lauren, Peter took a very significant step in his life and gave it over to Jesus, which began a long journey of serving God with as much passion as he had lived his life thus far! Surrendering his oil patch work and going full on for God. He served the lord in a number of communities, from Lloydminster to the south Okanagan, in 1996 , Kelowna, Osoyoos, and Oliver, in his later years, 2009, moving here in the Shuswap, where he met  and married Robyn in May of 2011, they ministered together in Chase, Scotch Creek, itinerate preaching and even a short time in Grande Prairie, AB, what a precious gift Peter was given, and he took sharing the word of God and his testimony very passionately, with the honor of God’s word paramount!

Along the way he served on different boards and applied his ministry to Full Gospel Businessmen, sharing his testimony throughout western Canada. Women’s Aglow and AA to mention a few. He expounded on those experiences as he and we ministered by the healing power of Jesus.

Peter was full of stories and testimonies of the goodness of God, along with a great sense of humor and spun great stories and caught many off guard. His willingness to share his life’s journey  was significant in his ministry. He is and will be greatly missed by, not just by his family but extended family and numerous friends, church family. In these last months as his strength was failing, by the grace and power of God, Peter was able to leave us with his last message, on Sunday, Jan 2nd, 2025, it can be viewed on the Living Waters Church website. His last scripture that he often referred to was “Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…

“It’s been quite the adventure my love.”

Celebration of life is being planned for later in May, information will be sent out when date is set.

  8. Peter will be sorely missed by Robyn, his family, her family, his extended family and his many friends and associates developed over the years through their participation in supporting and encouraging others to live well. Peter was interesting and entertaining with a positive outlook on life as he shared his many stories of the various experiences he met in his life. Even tempered, a loving husband and partner to Robyn who joined him on his journey and stayed until the end. Their life together as a couple was an example of a committment to share the best of times and support each other in the worst of times. A success by any measure. I hope Peter’s spirit finds itself exactly where he expected to be. He’ll be missed as he leaves others to tell his stories for him.

  9. Rest in peace my friend. What a beautiful celebration in Heaven when Jesus embraced you Peter into HIS Loving arms.
Blessings and love from Jane and John Tafe
