Our family would like to extend our sincere condolences to Robert’s family and friends. We knew him for only a few weeks, as he was in the same hospital ward as our father. Robert was definitely a special person. Although he was obviously very ill, and often in pain and discomfort, he was always dignified and courteous, but with a wickedly dry sense of humour. We were sorry when he was moved to another ward, and saddened to hear that he had passed away. Robert was a favourite with all the hospital staff, so we hope you are comforted in knowing that the nurses were unfailingly kind and attentive to him.
Deepest sympathies, The Macfie Family

I can concur with Margaret regarding Robert . I only knew him for a short few weeks in my capacity as a hospice volunteer . In that time I too enjoyed his wit and company . As we “toured” the hallways there was always a “hello” to the staff and patients along the way . Everyone had a smile for Robert . There were many painful moments for him , but he never complained at all . A very stoic and proud Scotsman throughout his life’s journey . At the news of his passing nurse Marie shed a tear or two as , I’m sure, many staff felt a loss too . His family can take much comfort knowing all the hospital staff respected his suffering and made Robert’s final weeks as comfortable as possible .
