It is with great sadness that after a courageous battle with cancer, the life journey of Delia (Della) Marie Kotowsky age 78 was completed at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm B.C.  Monday March 13, 2017.
Predeceased by her proud parents George and Rose Dufresne, step father Robert Simpson and siblings Cecile, Cora, Louise, Bernadette, Joseph, and Mary. She is survived by her siblings Dorothy, Laura, George and Robert.
Della is also survived by her loving husband of 59 years Fred Kotowsky, and their five children, Debbie (Pat Ranahan) Delmer Kotowsky, Brenda (Guy St Martin ) Cindy Kotowsky-Potter, and Gaylene (Mark Morancy) along with 16 grandchildren , 18 great grandchildren  and numerous nieces and nephews.
Della was born July 23, 1938 in Willow Bunch, SK. In August of 1939 her family travelled for a month in a covered wagon pulled by a team of horses to their new home in Bellsite, MB. In 1948, her family moved to Westgate, MB where Della continued her education. After leaving school Della worked in a plywood factory in Swan River, MB.
Della met Fred Kotowsky and they were married April 27, 1957 in Swan River, MB where their five children where later born.
On a frosty, cold December 3, 1973 Fred and Della packed up their family and headed to the North West coast of British Columbia to the tiny logging village of Kitwanga, B.C. Della worked at The General Store and loved serving the locals with a big smile while selling hardware to everyone. Della and Fred remained in Kitwanga until Fred retired in 1987, they then headed south to sunny Salmon Arm, B.C. Della did not stay still long. She kept very busy serving the public by volunteering with various organizations such as The Breakfast Club at the local elementary school, Morning Market where she helped seniors shop, The Soup Kitchen, Lunch with Friends and at her beloved Thrift Store. She was very active in her church and loved to volunteer there as well. Della made so many close friends through her volunteering and the church that when you went out in public with her you had to allow for extra time because she knew so many people and always stopped to say hello and get a hug.
Della will be dearly missed by her family. She left a mark on each of us that will be passed on for generations to come.
Della’s Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 22nd at 1pm at Crossroads Free Methodist Church in Salmon Arm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
