Martin, Lorne Alfred

April 7, 1949 – August 5, 2022
at the age of 73 years:

On August 5th, 2022 Lorne Martin beat cancer and left this world on his own terms, surrounded by his beautiful loving family.  Lorne started his journey knowing that there is more to life than what we can see and that it doesn’t end in a slow ride in a hearse.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene of 52 years, his son Bryon (Julie), his son Graham (Cindy), his grandsons Alex and Logan and many, many family members.  Lorne will be missed and always remembered for his humour, quick witty replies, but most of all by his loving family.  Travel on Lorne…you are loved by so many and always will be.  The memories of you and the stories will be with us forever.

Humour to the end but you neglected to tell us where the million dollars was buried in the basement.

A celebration of life for Lorne will be announced at a later date.

  1. Darlene our sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of Lorne. Lorne was one of the most sincere, kind individuals that I have had the pleasure of meeting. Our thoughts are with you.

  2. To me Lorne was more a mentor than a boss or a friend
He touched many people before his life came to an end
God must need a sidekick, a man to help him smile
He knows Lorne being himself would go that extra mile
May his actions live on all ways in his next of kin
Strength, kindness and honor in memory of him
Blessed that our paths crossed at 186 and 007
Rest in peace at your place in heaven till we meet again
Deepest Condolences to Darlene and family, Doreen Steiger (formerly Deck)

  3. We are very sad to hear about the passing of Lorne. We first met Lorne on the trails in the Highlands when Oliver was just a puppy and always looked forward to walking with him with our dog or just stopping and talking, We considered him a friend even though we did not spend a lot of time with him, as my husband says Lorne was a stand up guy.
    Please accept our sincere condolences.

  4. Darlene and family I am sorry to hear about your loss. I will remember the image of Lorne walking his beautiful dog. They always looked so connected to each other.
