Materi, Anthony Milo

January 25, 2003 – January 9, 2021
at the age of 17 years

It is with unbelievable sadness we announce the sudden passing of Anthony.

Growing up in Salmon Arm Anthony always enjoyed being with his friends, he loved animals and birds, and being involved in sports including hockey, basketball and soccer.  In his teenage years, his focus stayed with hockey and his part time job with Save-On-Foods, but always being a good friend was most important.

Anthony has touched the lives of many in his short time with us.  He is survived by his mom Laverna, sister Marissa (Lexie), aunt and second mom Lorette (Allan and Riley), grandparents Rick and Lois, the young lady that stole his heart Aspen, uncles, aunts, cousins, Brent and Crystal (Steven), Brian and Elsie (Kathryn, Leah and Kristen), Greg and Karen (Justin and Chelsea), best bud Charel and so many friends, parents, teammates, coaches, teachers, mentors and coworkers.  Anthony was predeceased by his dad Myles and grandparents Rene and Gail.

Anthony’s family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support received.

Covid19 restrictions prevent the scheduling of a Celebration of Life gathering at this time.  Please hug those close to you.  Share your stories, pictures and memories of the fun loving, hard working, kind Anthony, where you can.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shuswap Community Foundation, Salmon Arm Minor Hockey, 2021 Graduation Planning Committee at Salmon Arm Secondary or the Lindsay and Matt Emergency Fundraiser with go fund me.

  17. Dear Laverna and Marissa. I was so sorry to hear about Anthony. Heartfelt condolences to you and his family and friends. My fondest memory of Anthony was watching him under the basketball hoop, being the very best rebounder that I had ever seen when he was only in grade 6 or 7, I believe. His hard work and enthusiasm were so evident. Anthony was also a very polite young man, taking the time to say hello when our paths crossed. Sending you healing, positive thoughts. Sincerely, Marianne

  18. Anthony brought joy to every room and to every person within it. Rest In Peace Anthony, forever in our hearts and thoughts.

  19. Deeply saddened, heartbroken, and holding you, your family, and Anthony in our thoughts and prayers. Andrea, Shane, Evan, and I are devastated. We are so sorry for your loss and send our condolences.
As his basketball coach in grades 6 – 7 – 8 at Shuswap Middle, I have nothing but great memories of Anthony. I always appreciated Anthony’s commitment and hard work. He loved the game of basketball and pursued the game with dedication and passion. He always showed up, worked hard, and supported his teammates. Whether it was at open gym in the AM, on the weekends, or in the summer, or a scheduled practices and games with SMS or Synergy, Anthony could always be counted on to do his best and give it his all. Like everyone who new, work with, and played with Anthony, Salmon Arm’s basketball community is devastated and greaves the loss of such a wonderful young man. As coaches, players, and parents, we are heartbroken, and everyone who new him speak so highly of Anthony. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Laverna and Marissa. Anthony will always be a part of Synergy. He will remain in our thoughts and prayers, and we will hold him close to our hearts.

  20. Laverna and Marissa,

I am so incredibly sad to hear this tragic news of Anthony’s passing. I remember him in grade 8 not so long ago. His smile and vibrant energy stand out most in my mind, as does his genuine kindness towards every one of his peers. You are both in my thoughts. He will be sincerely missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

  21. We are all so very heartbroken to hear of the tragic news about Anthony. We have so many cherished memories of Anthony from the first season of hockey with Kyle (always the last to come out of the change room because they were chatting and goofing around), to going to Sunnybrae bible camp together for years, coming out to Totem Pole Resort with us as a family, playing basketball, 3 on 3 teams, RTC, and the many sleepovers and video games Kyle and Anthony did. We will all miss his beautiful smile, kind heart and dear friend he was. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, sending so much love your way!
Love Jack, Janelle, Kyle, Nathan and Evan
