Nobbs, Lyle Frank

May 15, 1937 – September 26, 2018
at the age of 81 years

It is with saddened hearts our family announces Lyle’s peaceful passing with his wife of almost 62 years, Lorraine, by his side.  He was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised on the family’s homesteaded farm in Dawson Creek, B.C., which included wheat, cattle, hogs, goats, horses, and chickens.  He would speak of getting rides home from school in tanks when the army was beginning construction of the Alaska Highway.  Lyle and Lorraine were married in 1957, started their family and in 1964 moved to Salmon Arm where he continued farming for a while, then went to work for the Department of Highways and stayed with privatized highway companies for 27 years until he retired.  He hated the colour purple and his family fondly remembers going on Christmas tree hunts, wading through snow to find the perfect tree, annual family vacations, and Sunday drives.  He enjoyed camping, current news events, listening to his scanner, following sports, and especially spending time with his family: his wife Lorraine; his three children: Shirley (husband Neil), Darrell (wife Lisa), Lyla (husband Barrie); six grandchildren: Caroline, Ryan, Colin, Nadine (husband Jake), Alyssa (husband Brad), Shawnee; three great grandchildren: Nicholas, Oliver, Dawson, and one on the way; his sister: Frances (husband Jose); and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Bertha.
