May 3, 1942 – November 18, 2024
at the age of 82 years:
It is with much sadness that that we announce the passing of Norm Reimer, who died peacefully at 4:30 PM on November 18th, surrounded by loved ones at VJH.
Norm was born to Julia and Michael Reimer on May 3, 1942 in Melville, Saskatchewan and moved with his family to a small farm in Armstrong a year later. Norm did his schooling in the old brick school house in Armstrong, but left early to begin his career in the heavy equipment industry, supporting farming, logging, and construction. He got his start as a mechanic then progressed to parts, service and sales. With his wife Jan, he started and ran NorJan Equipment Sales until 2006 when he retired.
Norm was one of the original members of the Cam Jammers Custom Car Club. He played hockey with the Armstrong Cougars and refereed for other teams. He served as Auxiliary RCMP in Salmon Arm.
His interests in later years were RVing from Alaska to Mazatlan, Mexico and west to east coasts and back across Canada and the USA, Australia and New Zealand and 5 weeks in South Africa. Going on international cruises was a favourite. He also enjoyed may years of boating and golf and was a Snowbird for 30 years. Norm loved to visit and share memories of his travels.
In 1976, Norm married the love of his life Jan MacKay Assaly. Together they ran their businesses and were never apart for 48 wonderful and exciting years. Norm had son Craig from his first marriage to Wendy Wallace and Jan brought her son Troy into the family. Troy has since added three wonderful grandchildren to the family.
Norm is survived by his loving wife Jan, his two sons Craig (Tracy) and Troy. Norm also cherished his 3 grandchildren Isaac, Mikah, and Angelica and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no service by request. A family Celebration of Life will be held on the Shuswap in next summer.
