Rivard, Joseph “Joe” Robert

May 29, 1943 – May 15, 2022
at the age of 78 years

It is with great sadness the family of Joseph (Joe) Robert Rivard announce his passing on May 15, 2022 at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

Joe was born in 1943 in Innisfail Alberta. In 1978 Joe was transferred from Victoria to Salmon Arm to take up the role of Sheriff, serving the North Okanagan region until his retirement in 2002 after 35 years of service.

Joe will forever be remembered by his loving wife Linda, his children Lisa, Kathi, Christa, Rob and Alan and his grandchildren Carly, Jessica, Evan, Colby, Sydney, Olivia, Hannah, Jacob and Gavin.  Joe also had a large extended family, many nieces and nephews and was a family favourite with them, always providing the humour and joy to any event.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Nap and Irene and his brother Larry Rivard.

Joe was well known for his quick wit, jokes and gentlemanly disposition. Joe loved to travel and the outdoors, with camping, fishing and even sometimes golf.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors of Salmon Arm Medical Clinic and the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided to Joe.

At Joe’s request there will not be a service.  In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity.

He was loved and will be terribly missed by all.

  4. Hi Linda and family, I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. He was such a great guy and friend. We rode to work together for 20 years and he was able to make our work days so enjoyable with his humor. Still remember the time we went to Reg Conf. in Kelowna, Joe and I were late and the only room left was the honeymoon suite or the time we went to Conf. in Fairmont and we were missing 2 hub caps off our car so we borrowed two off the Kamloops sheriff’s car. Marci and I enjoyed our get togethers in Salmon Arm.
