With heavy hearts we sadly say goodbye and “we love you” to – Jacqueline Anne Wald – Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister and friend. Mom passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 1st in her loving husband and caregiver’s arms, and did so peacefully, calmly and with a smile after a two-month battle with liver cancer. Jacquie said not too long ago “I’m not afraid to go” and while this came way too soon, we know she’s not suffering anymore and is at home with her Saviour. The daughter of Dorothy and Clarence (John) Lynem, Jacquie was born May 8, 1954 in Calgary, Alberta. Jacquie and Patrick were married September 6th, 1975 in South Calgary and lived a life of love and friendship amid ever changing circumstances, moving back and forth between Calgary and Vancouver, and travelling each year to their favourite places – Hawaii, Vancouver Island and Banff. Jacquie grew up in South Calgary, spending many a summer at the South Calgary pool, socializing with her girlfriends and travelling with her family. Growing up, Jacquie was the sweetest soul, always caring and looking out for others; making friends wherever she went. Each of her sons would agree their Mom was the rock of their family, ensuring chores where getting done, food was prepared and that, no matter what, everything would be alright. She loved her grandchildren so very much, always spoiling them and showering them with affection. A woman of many skills, Jacquie had various occupations that put to test her uncanny ability to relate to people, solve problems and simply get the job done. She was one of the hardest working people many of us had ever met. Always the first to volunteer, she touched the hearts of everyone she met and could be relied upon at a moments notice. Jacquie is survived by her husband Patrick, sister Priscilla (Jim), and brothers Ross (Natalie) and Johnny, along with her three sons Michael (Heather), David (Meagan) and Robert (Alisha), six grandchildren, and by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Our family thanks everyone for their support, thoughts, prayers and love during these past few weeks. You truly touched our hearts and made things so much better for us all. Memorial services in both Salmon Arm, and Calgary will be held at a date, time and location to be announced. The family has asked to please not send flowers, and that donations can be made on her behalf to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation where she had the best care we could have asked for.
