May 19, 1950 – October 20, 2025
at the age of 75 years:
Duncan (Dunc) was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, the eldest of 5 boys and 1 girl. He always was the fun-loving big brother that never missed a chance to raz his siblings but yet would drop everything to lend them a hand. Dunc was the type of guy who would give the shirt off his back or buy a meal for someone in need. Being a young adult he started his trade as a welder and boilermaker. When he married his first young wife Lorraine Grindle he decided to go to SAIT for drafting in Calgary Alberta. Staying with Uncle Jim and Aunt Liz Kitch he developed a great fondness for Ukrainian food. He and Lorraine were married 25 years raising Sandi to be a strong independent individual. They reminded her and anyone else her Cerebral Palsy was just a small aspect of her. He always said “You are not disabled. You are adaptive, figure it out.”
Duncan loved his Harley Davidsons right from a young man on. There was not a spring that you didn’t hear the rumble of his Harley right to the first snow fall or sometimes the second. He also thrived in his sport Tae Kwon Do working very hard as he achieved his black belt.
After moving to BC, he and Lorraine parted ways and each started their new chapters. Duncan accepted Jesus into his heart and became a new person. His new amazing wife Maureen and he had many adventures owning and running a newspaper in Enderby, then doing Christian volunteer work in Israel, Mexico and Hawaii. They happily retired in Keremeos where they eventually renovated a home with the help from brothers and friends. It was during this process that Dunc showed signs of Lewy Body Dementia. He was super lucky that Maureen had experience already with caregiving other family members in the past and Sandi worked in long-term care. Together, they guided Dunc through his difficult journey.
He is survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Sandi, brothers Gary(Lee-Anne), Cam, Dave, Stan(Kim) and sister Lois Fisher(Gord Lou).
He is free now from confusion, fear and pain, being held in his Lord’s arms.
Ride with the wind, Dunc

Love and Prayers
My Sincere Condolences to Duncs family and friends. May he rest in peace.
Thinking of you Sandi as you go forward without your Dad. It can be hard to imagine how you will go forward, but you will figure it out. Remember you are adaptive.
Just remember he is in the arms of Jesus.
Our condolences to both you and Maureen…..love always Nellie and Delbert
I love what he said about you Sandi and you are amazingly adaptive. You are such a shining example of the good things your Dad brought to this life.
Hi Sandi. What a beautiful write up. My heart and prayers and condolences my friend. I was blessed to see him when we came over here and there. Thank you for sharing your wonderful and amazing dad. Xo
So many fond memories of this beautiful soul. Duncan loved to give…his time, gifts, money and of course his love. Sandi your dad was always so proud of you. You were the apple of his eye. He’d do anything to bring a smile to your face which usually happened with his goofy expressions. And Maureen, you breathed a whole new life into him. The adventures you two shared im sure were unforgettable. You were his gem! We are going to miss him so much!
