We sadly announce the passing of Raymond Blair Waller. He was born in Calgary on May 20, 1950 and died at his home in Eagle Bay on April 30, 2025. Ray was the third son of Ron and Betty Waller, younger brother to Ron and Gary.
As a young man he was passionate about cars, becoming a member of the Corvette club. He was apprenticed as an electrician out of high school and became a master electrician in 1979. He met Heather Schmaltz in 1969, fell in love and married on June 7, 1975. They raised four children, Reyna, David, Amanda and Fay. He was strongly devoted to family and remained very close with his parents and brothers his whole life.
Ray got his pilot’s license in his early 40’s and loved to take his family and friends for regular flights over the Alberta foothills. He also purchased property on Shuswap Lake where he and Heather later built their retirement home and moved in June of 2022. Those who knew him a little will remember him for his tough, strong presence while those who knew him well will remember his great sense of humor and gentle, generous and compassionate heart.
Ray is survived by his wife Heather, brother Gary, his four children, son-in-Law Corey Paszcza and two grandchildren, Owen and Isabella Paszcza.

I am feeling very saddened for your loss. I would love to give Heather, Rayna, David, Amanda and Faye a magic hug that could help ease your pain, however I realize there is no such thing.
My only advice is to grieve at your own pace. It takes time, understanding and patience.
I know what it’s like to loose your Husband/Dad. I admired Ray for his humour, his witty conversation, his ability to include you in the conversations. He and I both married into the Schmaltz clan. I have been a member of it since 1972. I love how Rose made us outlaws feel special and always included. Whenever ever Ray spoke about his family you could almost see his chest fill with pride!
I know he will be sorely missed.
Heather and family, we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ray. We always enjoyed our conversations with Ray since we became one of your neighbors at the lake. He was a great source of information and we always appreciated his help He will be missed. Our sincere condolences to your family
I’m so so sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. My condolences to your family, hang on to your good memories.
So sorry to hear of Ray passing away. We remember his guitar playing and him helping with the wiring in our garage. A good friend and a great guy. He will be missed.
Bob has some wonderful memories of Ray. What was your best memory of Ray playing and singing songs at parties, so he would play and sing songs, but he does not remember Ray finishing one song. Partying with all the buddies. Playing ball, always working very hard.
Deepest sympathies so sorry to hear of Ray’s passing, Ray was an awesome person and always enjoyed his company at my Dads place watching football or at the Legion playing darts. Wishing I have opportunity to play some guitar with him around the camp fire.
I’m so sorry to learn of Rays passing. He was a wonderful man. Condolences to his family.
