Morrison, Constance “Connie” Marie Anne

MORRISON, CONSTANCE WMarch 29, 1925 – July 31, 2016
at the age of 91 years

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. with Father George LaGrange OMI officiating. Luncheon to follow.  Interment to follow at a later date.

Mom passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 31, 2016, at the age of 91 years. On the eve of her passing she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren who spent the time reflecting on Mom’s life; many laughs and tears were shed over the hours. She was the matriarch of our small, but loving and close-knit family. Small in stature, her presence was always larger than life.
Connie was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Lilianne and Joseph Martin, the youngest of four children. She excelled in sports and academics, being awarded medals in skeet shooting, curling and speed skating. She was also an avid skier, often travelling by train to Quebec and Alberta to chase the fresh powder. Sports were always a source of enjoyment in her life. Upon moving to Sorrento from Calgary in 1972 she joined the Shuswap Lake Estates Ladies Golf League of which she remained a long-time member until she moved to Salmon Arm in 2003. Mom was a true competitor; it didn’t matter if it was golf, bridge, skiing or curling. Also, Mom was very passionate about her Church. No matter where she lived she was always an active member of the Catholic Women’s League as well as the Church choir.
Besides her family, Mom’s other passion was travelling. She and her many friends planned trips all over the world, and every year the family always looked forward to hearing where the next adventure would take them.
Mom is survived by her daughter Nadine, her son Wayne (Jackie) and grandchildren Leigh (Brad), Christopher and Amy (Justin). She was predeceased by her husband Ron,  her parents, her brothers Pat and Paul, her sister Blanche and son-in-law Henry.
We would like to thank all the staff of Hillside Village Cottage 5 for their endless care and compassion. Mom’s last few days were made easier with their understanding and support. We would also like to thank our family and friends for being there for Mom. She could always count on a visit to brighten her day.
In lieu of flowers Mom has requested that a donation be made in her name to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, Box 265 Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3.

Bob was born in Brandon, Manitoba where he met the love of his life, “Miss Canada” contestant, Alice Trefiak. Fortunately, he had a cool car, so Alice agreed to date him, the rest is history.  Theirs’ was the true love story.

After 48 years of a wonderful marriage, Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Alice, and his amazing children, who made him so very happy, Richard and children Dean, Amie and Olivia;  Christine (Irwin) and son William; Sheila and sons Mikey and Robby; Bobbi-Lee (Jamie); Jill (Ken) and son Adrian; as well as his Grand-daughter Dog, “Bella” and his favourite feline daughter “Missy”, who will walk all over his  new Show Car without worry of being scolded.

He also leaves many friends, and in particular one very special friend “Gary Koo”, who visited him in his “shop” to talk about cars, collectibles and man talk in general.  He always welcomed everyone to come and share a drink and a good story.

A positive bible based discourse will be held and the Kingdom Hall in Salmon Arm at 2:00 p.m., July 2, 2016.  Song 130, A gift so rare.

Randi Kathleen Paul (nee Richmond) was born April 29, 1949 in Auburn, CA.  As a child she explored the woods and fields with her constant companions and caretakers-her dad’s hunting dogs.  A devoted nature lover she longed for a greater understanding of creation.
Upon graduation from high school in 1967, Randi headed for the Canadian North to experience true wilderness.  Randi met her husband Siegfried and they started their life together in a log cabin at Moberly Lake, BC.  There she came to know the native peoples of the area and to value their life of simplicity.  There too, she learned of the Bible’s promise for meek ones who would inherit the earth Mt 5:5.
Her two daughters, Tamara Paul and Rebecca Raabe were brought up on a 640 acre ranch near Dawson Creek.  The family raised horses, cows, sheep and stock dogs. The girls learned to ride, drive the tractor and feed livestock.  Barn cleaning and weeding the huge garden taught them how to work hard and take on any task.
Her grandchildren Kyle Bagu, Colton Brady and Nadia Brady were Randi’s greatest joy and dearest friends.
Randi was a faithful Witness of Jehovah for 35 years and is forever grateful for the knock on her door that brought her to knowledge of her God, his name and his purposes   Rev. 21: 1-5.

at the age of 90 years

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday June 25 at Mara Church, followed by a reception at Mara Community Hall.

Margie was born in January 1926 near St. Brieux, Saskatchewan. In 1930 her parents, Mike and Julia Forgo, moved their children to BC’s Abbotsford area. When her father found steady work with CNR in 1935 he moved his family to Blackpool, and then to Campbell Creek. By 1940 they were all back in Abbotsford where her parents had purchased a farm. The family continued to grow, and altogether Margie had eight siblings: Elsie, Julia, Mike, Rose, Pearl, Rudy, Illona, and Vicky.
On New Year’s Eve 1942 Margie met Joseph Werner, who became the love of her life. They married in 1943 and began mixed farming. Over the next fifteen years they became focused on dairy farming and had three sons and a baby girl.
In 1968 they sold their farm in Yarrow and moved to a farm in Mara with their youngest son. There they built a new house and lived beside the Shuswap River.  Besides several hobbies – photography, gardening, sewing, needlework, travel – Margie had a remarkable memory and accumulated a storehouse of knowledge that will be missed.
Her husband Joseph passed away in 2005. With the help of several wonderful local friends Margie was able to continue living in the home she loved until 2013, when she moved to Salmon Arm.
Margie passed away peacefully on June 6 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. She is survived by her three sons: Joe (Ruth), Len (Tracy), and Nick (Debbi); five grand-children: Janice (Rob), Andy, Cindy, Carmen (Jon), and Greg; and four great-grandchildren: Courtney, Wesley, Raven, and Tamsin.
The family extends sincere thanks to the friends mentioned above; to Margie’s physician during the past several years, Dr. Angela Plessis; to those who provided such good care and support to her at the hospital; and to the friendly and helpful staff at Lakeside Manor. And finally to the palliative caregivers at Bastion Place who, last summer, were so effective at creating a positive atmosphere in a customarily less than positive situation that, to everyone’s surprise, Margie recovered and emerged to live independently for several more months.

Floyd, beloved husband to Grace for 56 years, will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Candy and husband Derek. Floyd will also be fondly remembered by his granddaughter Haleigh, many cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends Dick, Jenny, Tish and Karen and several other friends that he called family.

at the age of 87 years

Harry Higgins died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Bastion Place, Salmon Arm at the age of 87 years.
Harry was born at The Hague, Netherlands in 1929 to an American mother and an Australian father, a petroleum engineer.  Harry’s young life was spent near oil fields in Venezuela, New Guinea, California and Borneo.  He graduated from Geelong Grammar School in Australia and then from Jesus College, Cambridge University in England.
Harry worked for Shell Oil Company in the Philippines where he met his wife, Lois.  After their marriage they moved to Canada and spent some time in Ocean Falls, BC.  He then attended U.B.C. where he did a teacher training course and eventually received a M. Ed. Degree.  He taught in Squamish and Ocean Falls before coming to the Shuswap.  Harry held a variety of administrative jobs in this area, including 13 years as Principal of J.L. Jackson Jr. Secondary School.
Harry was professionally active in the Shuswap Teachers Association and Principals and Vice-Principals Association as well as in the Okanagan Valley Teachers Association and several committees of the B.C. Teachers Association.
His activities in Salmon Arm included working on the Drug and Alcohol Committee, SABNES, the Community Alternative Measures Program (a diversion program for young offenders), and was an active member of the Naturalist Club, Shuswap Outdoors and the Salmon River Roundtable.  After retirement, Harry spent six years on the B.C. Government Environmental Appeal Board.
Canoeing was a great passion for Harry.  He shared dozens of canoe trips with family and friends.  He loved hiking and skiing and had a particular interest in studying reptiles.  He worked with Biology graduate students from the University of Victoria to mark and monitor 1,500 rattlesnakes in the Vernon area.
A retirement project was to learn to type.  After he accomplished this, Harry wrote four books (which he didn’t want published) about his early life in New Guinea, Borneo and the Philippines.
Harry passed on his great love of adventure and nature to his three children, Robin (Wayne) Lundeberg, David (Naseem Janmohamed) and Bill (Brenda).  His grandchildren Faelan, Freya, Shiraz, Rehan, Sophia, Jamie, Jory and Travis have all enjoyed his wit and wacky humor.

Russell, Rosemarie “Rose”

RUSSELL, ROSE wDecember 05, 1939 – May 11, 2016
at the age of 76 years

Rosemarie was born to Irmgard and Hugo Limlie on December 5, 1939 in Saaz, Czechoslovakia.
She passed from her earthly journey on May 11, 2016.
The first six years of her life were years of war and hardship. The end of the war did not lessen the trauma as the Czech army moved in to evict all the people of German birth or affiliation.
The order came to take what you could carry and leave. So, mother, grandmother, Rose and her two brothers set out on a walking journey that took more than a week before they reached the German border where they were transported in freight cars to a place where they were joined by relatives.
Housing was scarce and they lived in very cramped quarters for the first couple of years.
Rose received her education, including a two year apprenticeship, in the delicatessen art and trade.
In 1960 she married Bernd Jaumann and in 1965 moved to Canada with son Kurt and daughter Sylvia. Nicole waited to be born in Winnipeg where they made their first home. Later they moved to Portage and then to Vancouver and area.
Sadly Rose and Bernd divorced and Rose worked at several workplaces, including a couple of meat markets, to support the family. In one of the meat markets she got a permanent position as she and Norm married on June 19, 1978.
In 1989 the market was closed and in 1996 Rose and Norm moved to Salmon Arm and with another couple opened the Spiritualist Church of Salmon Arm. Rose was a very important part of this organization throughout all the years that followed.
Rose leaves at her passing, her husband Norm; daughter Sylvia; daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Scott; step-daughter and son-in-law Terry and Jim; grandchildren Cody, Matthew, Haillie, Lara, Susan and Angie and brother, Wolfgang.
Rose will meet in the spirit realms with her first husband Bernd; her son Kurt; her brother Horst and her parents.
She will ever be remembered with love.
No service by request.

Maire was born in Kokkula, Finland in 1925 and immigrated to Canada with her mother in 1929. Her family homesteaded in Sicamous where her father had set up a year prior. Maire was the oldest of three children with a sister and brother and the family worked hard to make a living.
Maire married John Spelay in 1948 and together they raised their 5 children in Salmon Arm. Mom was the center of our busy family and our home was always filled with friends, laughter and happiness. She was always involved with her children’s sports; she volunteered at the Salmon Arm fall fair and had many blue ribbon entries of her home. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, fishing, poetry, photography, and entertaining friends. She was always up for a friendly game of scrabble or crib, and had an amazing love of writing letters and cards to her ever ending list of friends all over the world.
Maire adored her grandchildren and they loved her too. She had a wonderful way of making everyone she met feel special and welcome in her home.
All those who are left behind to cherish her memory will dearly miss her.

Gavel, Lola Joyce

GAVEL, LOLA wJanuary 15, 1929 – May 10, 2016
at the age of 87 years

Lola Joyce Gavel passed away peacefully at Mt. Ida Mews, Salmon arm, B.C. on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Lola was born in Westlock, Alberta on January 15, 1929.

Meeting the love of her life at the Sugarbowl Café in Edmonton, she became a mother at the age of 19. Two more sons followed, along with 36 household moves throughout Western Canada, as employment opportunities arose.  The home in Edmonton, of grandparents Willis and Rosalie Collins, was the anchor around which the family orbited. The family arrived in Sicamous in 1961, and settled in a relocated log house on a hill off Solsqua Road, overlooking the Eagle River rapids. With growing boys to feed and many extended family members visiting, putting food on the table was a challenge. So Lola started the vegetable and flower gardens that became the passion of her life.  Roses bordered rows of tomatoes, potatoes, beans and corn planted among the fruit trees. Lola’s many friends and family were always welcome with lively conversation, coffee and a slice of pie.

Lola’s husband and partner in life, Harold George (Curly) predeceased her in 1985. She is survived by her sister Audrey R. McDonald of Merritt, sister Vivian (Bill) Manson of Edmonton, brother Doyle (Helen) Collins of Kelowna, 3 sons Lee (Charlene) of North Vancouver, Kim (Kathy) of Sicamous, Mike (Lisa) of Sicamous, and 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and many friends and family throughout Alberta and B.C.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Mt. Ida Mews for their compassionate, loving care given to mom during these last years. We would also like to recognise the Manson Family for all the love and assistance provided over the years. We are very grateful you all were there for her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.

Jelsma, Silva

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJuly 17, 1926 – April 21, 2016
at the age of 89 years

Silva was born in 1926 in Amsterdam, Holland and as she grew up she assisted her father in his retail store in the city.
During WW2 Silva met her future husband Ben on the tennis court and they seemed to make a real match. Before long the question came up what to do next, until Ben was offered a job in New Zealand in an administrative position. What both had gone through during the War, a move to New Zealand seemed like a step in the right direction. She followed her future husband shortly after his departure and upon arrival decided to marry him on the spot, November 1952. Their stay in New Zealand did not satisfy them and they returned to Holland.
Silva’s sister, Constance, and her husband had immigrated from Holland to Canada and lived in Toronto, Ontario. At Constance’s request, Silva and Ben moved to Toronto in 1958. Finding work in that ere was not easy but Silva was fortunate and joined Sears Canada as a sales person. Ben began his studies in the accounting world but both felt unsettled in the large city of Toronto. After looking at a map of Canada they decided to move and in 1965 Calgary, Alberta was the next stop. Silva was able to transfer with Sears to their Calgary store.
Both Silva and Ben loved animals, in particular horses. Silva felt much more at home in Calgary and shortly after their arrival they began looking for an acreage on the outskirts of town. Silva got her first horse on the farm and soon thereafter she was the proud owner of five. Horse parades were her favorite as you can see in the card. Another love was Siberian dogs and with their countryside dream home, completed in 1973, she was in the perfect lifestyle she wanted.
1987 was a year of transition for both Silva and Ben. Her job of 30 years with Sears and Ben’s job in Calgary came to an end. Lifestyle had been very fast and it was time to slow down. The farm was sold and in 1989 they moved to a small acreage in Cranbrook, BC along with two horses.
The next move was another down size to Enderby, BC. The home in town had no place for Silva’s two horses so they were boarded in Armstrong, on a 15 minute drive away. Both of these have died naturally.
Silva and Ben had a short stay in Vernon, BC and a final move to Salmon Arm, BC, in 2013.
Silva passed away peacefully on April 21, 2016 at the age of 89 in Salmon Arm.

Fetterly, Olive Margaret “Peggy”

FETTERLY, PEGGY wJune 25, 1922 – April 12, 2016
At the age of 93 years

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2:30 PM, at the Senior’s Activity Centre,   170 – 5 Ave SE, Salmon Arm.

Peggy’s journey ended on Tuesday April 12 at the age of 93, after a brief stay in the Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
She is predeceased by Alf, her husband of 58 years and survived by her children, Bob (Cheryall) of West Hawk Lake, MB, Marlene (Roger) Roy of Salmon Arm, BC, her sister Joyce Minty of Onanole, MB and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born the eldest daughter to Robert and Lucy Potter on June 25, 1922 in Basswood Manitoba. After starting her married life in 1945 as a farmer’s wife; two years later, their son Bob was born.  In 1949, Peggy and Alf moved into town (Onanole, MB).  For 2 years, they both worked at a Dude Ranch – Peggy was the fulltime cook and cleaner while Alf worked as a horse wrangler and a guide. All this while she cared for her five year old son.
In 1956, Peggy worked at the White House Bakery in the Park as a full-time cook – the bakery served breakfast, lunch and dinner and Peggy was the reason many people came back over and over to eat at the bakery.  By then Alf had begun work with the Federal Government as a gatekeeper for Riding Mountain National Park.
Over the years in Manitoba she held a number of other jobs: as a clerk at a general store, a jewellery store and a clothing store.
In 1967, they migrated west to the summit of Rogers Pass B.C. where Alf worked at Glacier National Park and Peggy worked at the store and ran the Post Office.  They lived at the summit for 4 ½ years before they moved to Revelstoke when Alf transferred to Mount Revelstoke National Park and Peggy worked at a gift store.  In 1981, they both retired and settled into the house they built in Little Mountain subdivision of Salmon Arm.
After beating breast cancer in 1973, Peggy enjoyed a remarkably healthy life which allowed her to participate in many activities.  The Canadian Cancer Society remained a favourite charity and she canvassed door-to-door in Salmon Arm for many years.
She was very active in the Salmon Arm Lawn Bowling Club as a regular bowler and served as treasurer on the project to build the new clubhouse and for many years thereafter.
Peggy started curling in her teens in Manitoba and continued when she moved to B.C.  When the Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held in Salmon Arm in 2009, as the local female who had been curling the longest, Peggy had the honour of throwing the first rock of the bonspiel.  She finally hung up her broom at the age of 88.
Many people will remember Peggy as an avid bridge player whose name often appeared in the Duplicate Bridge results of the Salmon Arm Observer.  After recently moving to Piccadilly Terrace Retirement Residence, she continued to play bridge whenever she could.
Throughout Peggy’s entire life, her hands were never idle.  Some of the handicrafts she mastered were: knitting, crocheting, liquid and cotton embroidery, tatting and cross stitch.  She kept the family in knitted curling ‘beaver’ sweaters, socks and mitts.  If she made an afghan for one child, she then made one for the other child and sometimes for herself.
Peggy will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her kitchen was always a happy meeting place for family and friends and she was like a second Mom to a number of her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bonthuys and the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Peggy’s name may be made to the Shuswap Lake Hospital Foundation.

Randall, John Edward

RANDALL, JOHN WJune 15, 1935 – March 31, 2016

at the age of 80 years

There will be a funeral service and interment at St. Mary’s Church in Sorrento on Saturday, April 09, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a tea which will also be held at the church.

John Randall was born in the West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni, BC – long before the amalgamation of Port Alberni with Alberni.  John’s mother and father owned the Alberni Grocery so it was actually in Alberni that John grew up and learned the very real value of hard work.
In 1950, the family moved to Lulu Island where they purchased another grocery store and John, now 15, got his first driver’s licence. He always reflected that this made delivering groceries a whole lot easier than riding his bicycle up and down the hills in the Alberni Valley!
After a short time back in Alberni, the family moved to Sorrento in 1954 and purchased a store on the corner of Notch Hill Road and Dilworth Road. In 1957, John took an active part in helping his father move that building down to the new route of the Trans-Canada Highway.  A lunch counter and gas station were added. (Much later, and under different ownership, that building became Toby’s Restaurant.) In 1960, the family business was sold and John set off for Calgary to become a barber. After cutting hair for a number of years, though, John realized he needed to return to Sorrento to ensure his mother, widowed in 1966, was well looked after. John and his mother went on to share the family home for many years; during this time, John worked at the sawmill at Adam’s Lake as a lumber grader until his retirement in 1987.
John was a well-known resident in Sorrento for many years and, after his retirement, he could often be found at Toby’s or the Home Restaurant having coffee and shooting the breeze with his friends. When John had to move into Salmon Arm in order to get a little extra help, he developed two other favorite spots to meet with his friends – PJ’s Restaurant and the down town Tim Horton’s.
John was predeceased by his father Albert (1966), his nephew Edward (1996), his sister Frances (1997), and his mother Edith (1998); he leaves behind his niece Marilyn (Murray) Forbes and her family, as well as cousins and their families in Canada, England, New Zealand and Australia.  John also leaves behind many treasured friends. John was a wonderful story teller. He was kind, generous, funny and caring; he will be greatly missed by everyone who was privileged to know him.
Our thanks go to all those staff members who made John welcome in his old restaurant haunts and his favorite downtown businesses. Our thanks also to the staff members at McGuire Lake Congregate Living and, most recently, to the dedicated staff at Hillside Village.  Our thanks go also to Dr. Trow, Dr. Wilms and Dr. Rose for always taking the time to truly listen!
There will be a funeral service and interment at St. Mary’s Church in Sorrento on Saturday, April 09, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a tea which will also be held at the church.
No flowers by request: if so desired, contributions in John’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church for the upkeep of the cemetery (or a contribution to any other charity of your choice would also be welcome).

Each season brings its own unique blessings and her family gives thanks for all those endeavors she enjoyed.
At Maxine’s request cremation has taken place. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of their choice.  The family would like to thank the staff of Shuswap lake General Hospital and Royal Inland Hospital for their care of Maxine and kindness to the family.

Let us not look for you only in memory,
When we would grow lonely without you,

Beside us when beauty brightens,
When kindness grows
And music echoes eternal tones.”

Williams, Brenda Joy

WILLIAMS, BRENDA JOY wDecember 18, 1957 – March 19, 2016
at the age of 58 years

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Brenda Joy Williams of Blind Bay, BC. Brenda was born December 18, 1957 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and passed away at her home on March 19th, 2016 at the young age of 58.  On that day our family lost the most wonderful woman in the world. She fought a strong, courageous fight with cancer making it home from the hospital so she could pass on in the arms of her husband and sons by her side as she had desired. She is at peace now, and for that we are all grateful.

Brenda was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend, but above all she was a pillar in our family, always showing unconditional love and support. She taught us what real caring is and illustrated what true courage should be. We may be lost for a while without her, but we will rebound knowing she is with us in spirit. Her only fear was being forgotten, but Brenda’s character, attitude and positivity touched all those who knew her and will live on through her family.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents.  She is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband of 37 years David Llewellyn Williams, her sons Derek (Mandy) Williams and granddaughters Rayne and Samiah, Dwight (Natasha) Williams, Shaun Williams and granddaughter Abby.  She is also survived by her sisters Carol (Ray) Fox, Bev (Kelly) Kennedy, Joan (Ken) Cooper, Lorraine (Stewart) Deitsch and brothers Jim (Raylene) Norris, Robert (Sam) Norris and as well as countless other family members and friends.

Our family is thankful for the love and support received. We would especially like to thank Brenda’s sister Bev Kennedy and Brenda’s sister-in-law Donna Schaefer for caring of Brenda in her final days and support they provided the family when it was needed most.

Brenda’s family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Shuswap General Hospital, with special thanks to Dr Skubiak, Dr McKee and Dr. Main who did their all to provide the precious extra time with family and the opportunity to pass on in the comfort of her own home as she wished. You are all amazing.

Our love for Brenda is everlasting and we were all very fortunate to have her in our lives. She will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Brenda’s name may be made to the Shuswap General Hospital Foundation.

Thank you everyone for your love and support for our family during this time. I would especially like to thank my Moms sister Bev and My Dads sister Donna Williams-Schaefer for coming down and helping take care of my mom and help my dad when they really needed it. Our family understands that this wasn’t easy and we are forever grateful to you both. I’m not sure how my dad could have done it without either of you.

Love you Mom you will be missed dearly. We were luckiest boys to have you in our lives, and rest assured we will take care of dad for you. Rest now and look over us.

He is survived by his wife Minnie, sister Beatrice, grandson Brian and son in law Eric.  He was predeceased by his son Robert, and his daughter Sandra and his siblings Ruth, Orlow, Dave and Hazen.

Earl was born in McAdam, NB on April 18, 1929. His father David and Martha had six children, Ruth, Orlow, Dave, Earl, Beatrice and Hazen. Earl met the love of his life, Minnie, at the Admiral Factory in Port Credit, Ontario in 1953 and they were married on December 21, 1954. They had 2 children together, Sandra and Robert. They moved to Delta, BC in 1966. They lost their son Robert in 1974. Sandra had their grandson Brian in 1985 and he is the joy of their life. Tragically, they lost Sandra to cancer in 1990. Over the years Minnie and Earl gained many, many friends by their loving and generous spirits. In time they commonly became Grandma and Grandpa to many and they’ve continued to be surrounded by friends who are like family.

Earl worked at the sawmill and then got a job at North Delta Secondary School. For over 20 years he thoroughly enjoyed working as a janitor, playing jokes on his co-workers and helping many kids. Shortly after retiring, Earl and Minnie moved to Salmon Arm where they’ve lived a happy and quiet life next to the Salmon River surrounded by loving neighbors.

Anyone who knew Earl, knew he loved to keep busy with his many projects, listening to his old time music, telling entertaining stories of his life and with jokes he played on us all.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Earl’s name to the Arthritis Society.
